Job Description

  • Promote and detail the company’s pharmaceutical or healthcare products to doctors, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with healthcare professionals, including physicians, pharmacists, and hospital staff.

  • Cover the assigned territory and plan regular visits to doctors, clinics, hospitals, and pharmacies to promote product awareness.

  • Meet or exceed sales targets assigned by the company within the designated territory.

  • Monitor product sales performance and report progress regularly to the manager.

  • Educate healthcare professionals on the appropriate use of products and answer technical queries related to the product.

  • Maintain accurate records of all sales activities, product orders, and client interactions.

  • Provide daily, weekly, and monthly sales reports to management.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Product Promotion and Sales:

  • Promote company products to doctors (General Practitioners, Specialists, Surgeons, etc.), chemists, hospitals, clinics, and healthcare centers.

  • Deliver accurate product knowledge and scientifically detailed presentations to influence prescription behavior.

  • Highlight product benefits, usage guidelines, side effects, and dosage recommendations.

  • Meet or exceed assigned sales targets through focused and strategic selling efforts.

2. Territory Management:

  • Cover assigned geographic area or medical territory systematically and consistently.

  • Plan daily and weekly field visits and optimize doctor coverage across urban, semi-urban, and rural areas if applicable.

  • Map potential customers and update coverage lists regularly.

  • Ensure visibility and availability of products at chemists, distributors, and stockists.

3. Relationship Building:

  • Build and maintain long-term professional relationships with key healthcare providers.

  • Understand the individual needs of doctors and tailor promotional strategies accordingly.

  • Establish rapport with pharmacists, medical staff, and key opinion leaders (KOLs).

  • Attend industry seminars, conferences, and medical exhibitions to strengthen networking.

4. Product Knowledge and Training:

  • Stay updated with product features, composition, therapeutic uses, market trends, and competitor products.

  • Attend periodic training sessions to gain deeper insights into product science, medical advancements, and sales techniques.

  • Be able to clearly explain mechanisms of action, contraindications, and latest research associated with the product.

5. Reporting and Documentation:

  • Maintain detailed records of daily calls, doctor interactions, product discussions, sample distribution, and feedback.

  • Submit daily/weekly/monthly reports to Area Sales Manager on time, including field activity, market feedback, and competitor insights.

  • Update CRM tools or designated systems with accurate field data.

6. Sample Distribution and Promotional Material:

  • Distribute product samples, brochures, literature, and gifts to doctors and medical staff.

  • Ensure promotional materials are presented and explained in compliance with company ethics and local regulations.

  • Track sample usage and maintain accountability records.

7. Stockist/Distributor Coordination:

  • Ensure product availability at chemists and hospitals by coordinating with local stockists and distributors.

  • Monitor secondary sales and replenish stocks where needed.

  • Follow up on supply chain or logistic issues reported by chemists or doctors.

8. Market Intelligence and Feedback:

  • Gather insights about competitor strategies, pricing, promotional schemes, and market demand.

  • Share product performance, doctor feedback, and emerging trends with the sales and marketing teams.

  • Suggest improvements or new product ideas based on field feedback.
