MEP Engineer - Design/Project Jobs Opening in INDIA POINT LLP at Chromepet, Chennai
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
1. MEP Design & Planning
-
Prepare and review MEP system designs, including HVAC, electrical layouts, plumbing, fire-fighting, and drainage systems.

Develop detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and BOQs (Bill of Quantities).
-
Ensure designs comply with building codes, standards, and safety regulations.
-
Use design software like AutoCAD, Revit MEP, or similar tools to create layouts and shop drawings.
-
Provide value engineering to optimize project costs without compromising quality.
2. Project Execution & Supervision
-
Oversee on-site MEP works and ensure alignment with approved designs and specifications.
-
Supervise installation, commissioning, and testing of MEP systems.
-
Ensure quality control and adherence to project timelines.
-
Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and vendors for smooth project execution.
-
Identify and resolve technical issues encountered during project implementation.
3. Coordination & Collaboration
-
Work closely with architects, structural engineers, consultants, and project managers to integrate MEP systems seamlessly.
-
Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure proper alignment of design and execution.
-
Attend project meetings and update stakeholders about project progress.
4. Estimation & Cost Control
-
Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and project schedules for MEP works.
-
Evaluate vendor quotations and ensure competitive pricing.
-
Monitor project expenses and suggest cost-saving solutions without compromising quality.
5. Testing, Commissioning & Handover
-
Conduct inspections and tests for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and firefighting systems.
-
Ensure proper system functioning before final handover.
-
Prepare operation and maintenance manuals for clients.
-
Provide training to facility management teams, if required.
Skills and Competencies:
Technical Skills
-
Expertise in MEP system design, installation, and maintenance.
-
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and MS Project/Primavera.
-
Strong understanding of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety, and BMS systems.
-
Knowledge of relevant codes and standards such as ASHRAE, NFPA, IEC, and NBC.

Ability to perform load calculations, energy efficiency analysis, and equipment sizing.
