Job Description
CSIR – National Institute of Oceanography, a constituent national laboratory of Council of Scientific & Industrial Research Institute (CSIR), invites applications from eligible candidates for recruitment of the following project staff, purely on a temporary contractual basis to carry out research work on the R&D project and to be engaged in NIO Head Quarters, Goa.

4. Essential Qualification: M.Sc. Geology / Applied Geology
5. Desirable Qualification & Job Requirement Experience of laboratory culturing of foraminifera, processing of marine sediments and picking of foraminifera.The selected candidate has to participate in cruise, process marine sediments and pick microfossils.

Desirable Qualification & Job Requirement Experience of working in petrology/geochemistry/ paleomagnetism/sedimen tology related research problems.To participate in cruises for samples collection and analyses, database and report preparation. To assist scientists in project activities as per requirements. Selected candidate should have interest to work in petrology, geochemistry, paleomagnetism, sedimentology. Selected candidate will have to analyse rocks and sediments for trace elements and isotopic analyses, paleomagetism related mesurements Participation in oceanographic cruises is mandatory. The candidate is required to have a valid Passport.
6. Project Title and Vacancy Details: Tectonic and magmatic processes along the slowspreading midoceanic ridges and subduction zone in the Indian Ocean (TeaM-RiSe). Vacancy Code MLP2017/2136-21 Tenure: 7 Months

5. Desirable Qualification & Job Requirement Research experience in microbial isolation and identification using molecular tools, fermentation of microbes as well as extraction and purification of bioactive metabolites using chromatographic techniques. The candidates with prior experience in the above fields will be preferred.The candidate must be an excellent team worker who would be expected to perform the laboratory as well as field research experiments, maintain accurate data, perform critical data analyses, prepare/make presentations etc. The specific assignments may include but would not be restricted to participation in ocean cruises and field sample collection.
