One Year Intensive Course in Acting
National School of Drama, Bengaluru Centre invites applications for admission to its residential One year Certificate Course in Acting. The Course will begin from 15th July, 2016. Anybody throughout the country (India) can apply but preference would be given to candidate from Southern States of India (Karnataka, Seemandhra, Telengana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Union Territories of Pondicherry and Lakshadweep.

Qualifications : 1. The minimum qualification shall be Graduation or equivalent degree in any discipline from a recognized University. It is relaxable in the case of extraordinary talented candidates from the tribal, folk and traditional performing art families. 2. Sufficient knowledge of theatre with participation in at-least 4 (four) productions.
Scholarship : Finally selected Candidates for the course will be given scholarship of Rs.4500/- per month for the academic year.
Age Limit : Minimum 21 years and maximum 30 years as on 1st June, 2016.
Physical Fitness : All selected students will have to undergo a medical test for physical fitness. Their final selection is subject to clearance of the fitness test.
Application Fee : Demand draft of Rs.150/- in favour of NSD, Bengaluru Chapter.
Selection Procedure : After scrutinizing the applications the shortlisted candidates will have to appear for the final selection through a 2-4 days workshop at Bengaluru Centre, Kalagrama, Mallathalli (Behind Bangalore University), Bangalore-56 for audition / performance and physical test at their own cost on 26"', 27th and 28th June, 2016. Candidates must produce original certificates and testimonials during the workshop. An expert committee constituted by National School of Drama, New Delhi will assess the aptitudes and talent of the candidates and the committee's decision will be final. Any CANVASSING in this regard will be treated as ground for disqualification.

The National School of Drama is one of the foremost theatre training institutions in the world and the only one of its kind in India. It was set up by the Sangeet Natak Akademi as one of its constituent units in 1959. In 1975, it became an independent entity and was registered as an autonomous organization under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860, fully financed by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. Training in the School is highly intensive and is based on a thorough, comprehensive, carefully planned syllabus which covers every aspect of theatre and in which theory is related to practice. As a part of their training, students are required to produce plays which are then performed before the public. The syllabus takes into account the methods of great theatre personalities who have shaped contemporary theatre in all its variety.
