Mechanic/Operator /Multitasking Staff / Lab Technician/Nurse /Inventory/Bookkeeping Staff Job position in National Centre for Antarctic and Ocean Research (NCAOR) on contract basis
1. Vehicle Mechanic VEM /2 Posts
Preferable Experience :Operation, maintenance and repair of heavy motor vehicles preferably snow vehicles, trucks, dozers, cranes etc.
2. Vehicle Electrician VEE / 2 Posts
Preferable Experience :Operation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems of heavy motor vehicles preferably snow vehicles, trucks, dozers, cranes etc.
3. Station Electrician STE/ 2 Posts
Preferable Experience :Operation, maintenance and repair of power distribution systems and electrical switch gears & circuits.
4. Operator Excavating Machine (Dozers, Excavators) OEM/ 1Post
Preferable Experience :Operation, maintenance and repair of dozers and excavators
5. Crane Operator CRO /2Posts
Preferable Experience :Operation, maintenance and repair of hydraulic cranes.
6. Generator Mechanic/Operator GMO /2 Posts
Preferable Experience :Operation, maintenance and repair of large diesel generators, 60 to 100 KVA and above.
7. Welder WDR/ 1 Post
Preferable Experience :Spot welding, Gas welding, Arc welding, Gas cutting & brazing
8. Boiler Operator & Mechanic/ Plumber/ Fitter BPO/ 1 Post
Preferable Experience :Operation, maintenance of boilers with experience in plumbing.
9. Carpenter CPR/ 1 Post
Preferable Experience :Repair, restoring and installation of structural work.
10. Multitasking Staff MTS/ 1Post
Preferable Experience : Assisting in maintenance of machinery/equipments/ plumbing/ carpentry/pipe fitting
Qualification:
Sr. No. 1 to 4 and 6 to 10: For civilians: ITI Certification in relevant trade with four years relevant experience or Diploma in Engineering in relevant field with two years working experience in relevant field.
Sr. No. 5. For civilians: Heavy motor vehicle license and atleast one year of operating hydraulic cranes preferably of capacity of more than 20 metric tons.
11. Male Nurse MAN /2 Posts
Qualification:Diploma in General Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing as approved by Indian Nursing Council or Diploma in Operation Technique or Certificate in relevant subject from an Institute recognized by the Central or the State Government with four years relevant experience.
Preferable Experience :Handling medical emergencies and trauma/ disaster nursing/orthopaedic and rehabilitation nursing/handling operation theatre equipments
12. Lab Technician LBT/ 2 Posts
Qualification:Graduation in Physical sciences with minimum two years relevant experience in handling scientific laboratory equipments.
Preferable Experience :Operation and maintenance of scientific laboratory & equipments
13. Inventory/Bookkeeping Staff IBS/ 2 Posts
Qualification:12th pass, ITI Certification in computer operator and programming assistant (COPA) or equivalent trade with four years relevant experience. Diploma in computer application or equivalent with two years working experience in relevant field.
Preferable Experience :Categorization of material, Inventory management processes, stock audits and receipt of stock to stores and warehouse
14. Cook COK /2 Posts
Qualification: Degree/Diploma in Hotel Management and Catering Technology or Culinary Art from a recognized Indian University/Institute with two years of experience in a registered firm/airlines/hotel/food chain. Capable of handling 50 to 60 persons on a daily basis.
Preferable Experience : Culinary skills in Indian, Basic Oriental and Basic Continental Cuisine for a group of 50 pax on a daily basis- Buffet and/or according to the menu/ requirement.
Pay Scale : Contract wages of Rs. 24150/- (fixed) per month for the entire duration of contract for those who are going to Antarctica on NCAOR contract for the first time. Contract wages of Rs. 32200/- (fixed) per month for the entire duration of contract for those who already have been to Antarctica on NCAOR contract.

The National Centre for Antarctic and Ocean Research (NCAOR) was established as an autonomous Research and Development Institution of the Ministry of Earth Sciences (formerly Department of Ocean Development), Government of India on the 25th May 1998. With a mission mandate that is quite challenging, the Centre is designated as the nodal rganization for the co-ordination and implementation of the Indian Antarctic Programme, including the maintenance of India’s permanent station in Antarctica.
