Job Description
The Circle RF Optimization Engineer is responsible for end-to-end radio network performance optimization across the circle, ensuring KPIs for 2G/3G/4G/5G networks meet operator targets. The role involves network analysis, parameter tuning, drive test analysis, interference mitigation, and capacity optimization to improve customer experience and network efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
1. Network Performance Monitoring
Monitor daily network KPIs for RAN technologies (2G, 3G, 4G, 5G).
Identify performance degradation and initiate corrective actions.
Analyze KPIs such as:
Accessibility
Retainability
Integrity
Mobility
Throughput
Call drop rate
Handover success rate
2. RF Optimization Activities
Perform cluster/circle level RF optimization.
Parameter tuning for:
Handover parameters
Power control
Load balancing
Neighbor optimization
Conduct coverage and capacity optimization.
3. Drive Test Analysis
Plan and analyze drive tests and walk tests.
Identify coverage holes, interference, overshooting cells, and pilot pollution.
Provide recommendations for:
Antenna tilt adjustments
Azimuth changes
Power optimization
4. Interference Management
Detect and resolve co-channel and adjacent channel interference.
Work with field teams to correct hardware issues, feeder problems, and external interference sources.
5. Capacity & Traffic Optimization
Analyze traffic distribution across the circle.
Implement load balancing and traffic steering strategies.
Recommend carrier additions, spectrum refarming, or small cell deployment where needed.
6. Reporting & KPI Management
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly circle performance reports.
Track SLA/KPI targets and ensure continuous improvement.
Present optimization results to management and stakeholders.
7. Cross-Functional Coordination
Work closely with:
Field maintenance teams
Planning & rollout teams
Core network teams
Vendor support teams
