Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Monitor transmission network elements, links, alarms, and performance through NMS/OSS.
Perform alarm monitoring, filtering, correlation, and fault analysis.
Create, update, and close trouble tickets according to defined SLA and escalation procedures.
Perform service-impact assessment and prioritize critical outages.
Troubleshoot transmission issues involving SDH, DWDM, OTN, Microwave, Ethernet, FTTx/HFC, depending on the network.
Analyze LOS, LOF, CRC/BER, link-down, power, and equipment-related alarms.
Coordinate with Field Engineers, L2/L3 teams, vendors, and service providers for fault restoration.
Support planned maintenance, change management, migrations, and network upgrades.
Monitor network performance and identify recurring faults or capacity issues.
Maintain accurate incident logs, work notes, outage reports, and shift handover documents.
Follow escalation matrix and ensure incidents are resolved within SLA.
Provide remote support to field teams during troubleshooting and restoration.
Participate in preventive maintenance and capacity/upgrade activities where required. TTelecom Sector Skill Council+1
Required Technical Skills
Good understanding of Telecom Transmission Networks.
SDH / SONET fundamentals.
DWDM / OTN fundamentals.
Microwave transmission basics.
Ethernet, VLAN, IP and basic routing knowledge.
Fiber-optic communication and basic fiber fault concepts.
Understanding of NMS/EMS and network alarms.
Fault isolation and troubleshooting.
Basic knowledge of FTTx, HFC, Broadband can be important for access-focused NOC roles. JJobaaj
Familiarity with tools such as Netcool, Remedy, Huawei U2000, Nokia NFM, TeMIP, E6000, depending on the employer/network. JJobaaj+1
