Qualification : i. Good academic record with at least 55% of the marks or an equivalent grade of “B” in the seven point scale with letter graders, O,A,B,C,D, E and F at the Master’s Degree level in the concerned subject from an Indian University or an equivalent Degree from a foreign University. However, relaxation of 5% marks, i.e., from 55% to 50% is allowed for candidates having Ph.D. Degree and passed their Master’s Degree prior to 19.09.1991. ii. A relaxation of 5% may be provided at the Graduate and Master’s level for the SC/ST/Differently-abled (Physically and Visually Handicapped) candidates for the purpose of eligibility of educational qualification and for assessing good academic record during direct recruitment to teaching positions. N.B. Rounding off of marks to make it to 55% or 50% as the case may be through grace mark procedure etc. by Universities is not permissible for claiming relaxation. iii. Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) for Lectureship conducted by the UGC, CSIR for the respective subjects. Further, the candidates having Ph. D. Degree prior to the July 11, 2009 shall be exempted for the requirement of NET subject to the fulfillment of following conditions: a) Ph. D. Degree of the candidate in regular mode. b) Evaluation of Ph. D. Thesis by at least two external examiners. c) Open Ph. D. viva-voce of the candidate has been conducted. d) Candidate has published two research papers from his/her Ph. D. work out of which at least one must be in a refereed journal. e) Candidate has made at least two presentations in Conferences/ Seminars based on his/her Ph. D. work. Point (a) to (e) as above are to be certified by the V.C./ Pro-V.C./ Dean (Academic Affair).
Application Fee : The applicants are required to submit the DD of Rs.1000/- (Rupees one thousand) only for General Candidate and Rs. 750/- (Rupees seven hundred fifty) only for SC/ST Candidate drawn in favour of Comptroller of Finance, North Orissa University payable at Baripada along with the application form

The Government of Orissa under the Section 32 of the Orissa University Act, 1989 (Act 5 of 1989), established the North Orissa University and notified vide notification No. 880 dated 13th July 1998. The University is included in the list of Universities maintained under section 2 (f) of the University Grants Commission Act 1956, to impart higher education in the Tribal base area of Northern Orissa. The jurisdiction of the University extends over two districts, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar. There are 80 affiliated colleges, both general and professional, catering to the demand of higher education.
