What is the Payroll Specialist group responsible for?
- The Payroll, Time and Attendance Specialist is responsible for analyzing the needs of the various functional business areas within Franklin Templeton.
Payroll Processing
- Process bi-weekly payroll and coordinate with the US payroll, HR, and business partners
- Audit and correct or adjust any errors found while payroll processing by the vendor
- Check thoroughly the payroll output received from the vendor in all aspects to ensure quality output
- Handle and respond timely to the employees and department supervisors/managers on their queries
- Check all the statutory reports for making accurate and timely statutory payments
- Coordinate with the payroll vendor for generation of Year end tax forms and other annual statutory reports for compliance
- Review, audit and validate pay rate changes, employee deductions, change in taxation etc.
- Audit and setup all W4 changes, automatic direct deposits, garnishments, and levies received
- Calculate final paychecks or overpayments, Stop pay administration, prepare PR wires, reconciliation, tax jurisdiction changes, out of state employee transfers and expatriates
- Audit time and attendance system records for compliance with established standards
- Review/audit automated system output such as exception reports, to determine any corrections out of balance conditions
- Handle all payroll inquiries directly related to payroll checks, timecards and the time and attendance system
- Assist co-workers and external departmental staff with other payroll related issues
- Reconcile, audit, and prepare payroll reports and various downloads
- Handle special projects requiring full evaluation and research of historical data
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Commerce)
- 2 - 5 years of experience
- Good knowledge of U.S Payroll, Federal and state regulator regulations governing payroll highly preferred
- Experience in ADP and Kronos systems preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills

- Good use of databases/technology skills
- Proficient in MS office suite with emphasis on Excel
- Strong attention to details
- Excellent analytical, reconciliation and research skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to work in a high-volume environment and meet strict deadlines
- Ability to adhere/respond to established time frames and schedules
- Ability to operate a personal computer and related software
- Ability to operate general office equipment including ten key, typewriter, copier, and fax
- Develops solutions to a variety of problems; ensures solutions are consistent with organization objectives
- Work under general supervision
- Solve problems of moderate scope and complexity, refers to policies and practices for guidance
- Ability to hear and speak to employees and customers on the phone and in person
- Ability to sit for long hours at a time
- Ability to see the letters and numbers on a personal computer screen and on memos, reports and other documents (near vision)
- Requires moderate right- and left-hand coordination for the use of a personal computer
- Non-revenue generating
