PhD Admissions 2019
(July)
Applications are invited for admission to the Doctor of
Philosophy (PhD) programme beginning in July 2019. The disciplines in which
these programmes will be offered are: Computer Science & Engineering (CSE),
Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE), Linguistics and Mathematics.
The following are areas of research for which admissions are currently sought:
Categories of Students
i) Regular
A student in this category works full-time for his/her PhD
degree. He / she may get a fellowship / assistantship, or may be
self-financed.
ii) Sponsored
(full-time)
A student in this category is sponsored by a recognized
R&D organization, academic institution, government organization or industry
for doing research in the Institute on a full-time basis. He / She must
be a regular employee of the sponsoring organization with at least one
year of professional experience in the respective field. The Institute
does not provide any assistantship/fellowship to such a student. Sponsorship
letter must be attached with the application.
iii) Part-time
A student in this category is a professionally employed
person, who pursues the PhD Programme while continuing the duties of
his/her service. He / She must be a regular employee of the
sponsoring organization with at least one year of professional
experience in the respective field. A No Objection Certificate from
the Head of the Institution/Organisation in which He / She is employed
must be enclosed at the time of application.
Eligibility
CSE and ECE :- i)
Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology in the relevant area with a minimum
Cumulative Performance Index (CPI) of 6.5 or 60% of marks. OR ii) Four-year Bachelor’s degree in
Engineering/Technology/Medical Sciences or equivalent in a relevant area with a
minimum CPI of 7.0 or 65% of marks.
Mathematics :- MA/
MSc/ MTech in Mathematics with atleast 60% marks or a CPI of 6.5
HSS :- i. Masters in
Linguistics with at least 60% marks or a CPI of 6.0. ii. Candidates with MPhil degree/ NET-JRF
will be given preference
