Job Description
The normal duration for PhD
programme is 6 Semesters (3-years). The Academic Session comprises two
semesters each of 21 weeks and two semester breaks.
Eligibility : The
minimum eligibility qualification in respect of different disciplines shall be
as under:-
PhD (Floriculture
& Landscape Architecture, Fruit Science, Vegetable Science and Seed Science
& Technology) : - MSc degree in
concerned discipline with research thesis/ dissertation in partial fulfillment
of the programme in the concerned discipline under ICAR-AU system (SAUs/ CAUs)
with an OGPA of 6.50/10 (65% marks). If some seats remain vacant, the
candidates passing their degree from UGC recognized Universities will be
considered on merit basis.
PhD Food Technology :
- MSc degree in Food Technology/
Food Science & Technology/M Tech degree in Food Technology with research
thesis/ dissertation in partial fulfillment of the programme under ICAR-AU
system (SAUs/ CAUs)with an OGPA of 6.50/10 (65% marks). If some seats remain
vacant, the candidates passing their degree from UGC recognized Universities
will be considered on merit basis.
PhD Entomology : - MSc degree in Entomology/ Nematology with
research thesis/ dissertation submitted in partial fulfilment of the programme
in the concerned discipline under ICAR-AU system (SAUs/ CAUs)with an OGPA of
6.50/10 (65% marks). If some seats remain vacant, the candidates passing their
degree from UGC recognised Universities will be considered on merit basis.
However, if any seat still remains vacant, the candidates with MSc (Zoology)
with specialization in Entomology will be considered on merit basis
PhD Plant Pathology :
- MSc degree in Plant Pathology/
Mycology & Plant Pathology with research thesis/ dissertation in partial
fulfilment of the programme in the concerned discipline under ICARAU system
(SAUs/ CAUs)with an OGPA of 6.50/10 (65% marks). If some seats remain vacant,
the candidates passing their degree from UGC recognised Universities will be
considered on merit basis.
PhD Molecular Biology & Biotechnology :-
MSc degree in Molecular Biology &
Biotechnology/ Biotechnology/M Tech degree in Molecular Biology &
Biotechnology/ Biotechnology with research thesis/ dissertation in partial
fulfilment of the programme in the concerned discipline under ICAR-AU system
(SAUs/ CAUs)with an OGPA of 6.50/10 (65% marks). If some seats remain vacant,
the candidates passing their degree from UGC recognised Universities will be
considered on merit basis.
PhD Agri-business
Management :- Master’s degree in
Agricultural Business Management/ Agricultural Marketing/ Business Management
with specialization in Agriculture/ Fisheries/ Forestry/ Rural Business
Management with research project report in partial fulfilment of the programme
in the concerned discipline under ICAR-AU system (SAUs/ CAUs)with an OGPA of
6.50/10 (65% marks). If some seats remain vacant, the candidates passing their
degree from UGC recognised Universities will be considered on merit basis.
PhD Business
Management :- Master’s degree in
Business Management/ Business administration/ Agribusiness Management with research
project report in partial fulfilment of the programme in the concerned
discipline under ICAR-AU system (SAUs/ CAUs) with an OGPA of 6.50/10 (65%
marks). If some seats remain vacant, the candidates passing their degree from
UGC recognised Universities will be considered on merit basis.
PhD (Forestry)
Agroforestry, Forest Genetic Resources, Medicinal & Aromatic Plants,
Silviculture, Wood Science & Technology :- MSc
degree in concerned discipline with research thesis/ dissertation in partial
fulfilment of the programme in the concerned discipline under ICAR-AU system
(SAUs/ CAUs)/ FRIwith an OGPA of 6.50/10 (65% marks). If some seats remain
vacant, the candidates passing their degree from UGC recognised Universities
will be considered on merit basis.
PhD Soil Science :-
MSc degree in Soil Science with research
thesis/ dissertationin partial fulfilment of the programme in the concerned
discipline under ICAR-AU system (SAUs/ CAUs)with an OGPA of 6.50/10 (65%
marks). If some seats remain vacant, the candidates passing their degree from
UGC recognised Universities will be considered on merit basis.
PhD Agricultural
Economics :- MSc degree in
Agricultural Economics/ Economics with research thesis/ dissertation in partial
fulfilment of the programme in the concerned discipline under ICAR-AU
system(SAUs/ CAUs)with an OGPA of 6.50/10 (65% marks). If some seats remain
vacant, the candidates passing their degree from UGC recognised Universities
will be considered on merit basis.
PhD Microbiology :-
MSc degree in Microbiology/ Agri.
Microbiology with research thesis/dissertation in partial fulfilment of the
programme in the concerned discipline under ICAR-AU system (SAUs/ CAUs)with an
OGPA of 6.50/10 (65% marks). If some seats remain vacant, the candidates
passing their degree from UGC recognised Universities will be considered on
merit basis.
PhD Environmental
Science :- MSc Environmental
Science/ MSc (Forestry) Environmental Management with research thesis/
dissertationin partial fulfilment of the programme under ICAR-AU system (SAUs/
CAUs)with an OGPA of 6.50/10 (65% marks). If some seats remain vacant, the
candidates passing their degree from UGC recognised Universities will be
considered on merit basis.
PhD Statistics :-
MSc Statistics/ Agricultural Statistics
with thesis/ dissertation in partial fulfilment of the programme under ICAR-AU
system (SAUs/ CAUs)with an OGPA of 6.50/10 (65% marks). If some seats remain
vacant, the candidates passing their degree from UGC recognised Universities
(with or without thesis/ dissertation) will be considered on merit basis.
Financial Assistance
i) University Merit Scholarship : 5000/- PM (one in each
discipline)
ii) University Stipend : 2500/- PM (for HP domiciles
not getting any financial assistance)
ICAR Fellowship : This fellowship is awarded by the ICAR on the
basis of All India Competitive Examination @ 15000/- per month with a
contingent grant of 10000/- per annum. Number of other agencies such as Inspire
(DST), Aspee Foundation, CSIR etc. also award fellowship to Doctoral
Programmes. The applications for these fellowships are to be submitted to the
awarding agencies through the concerned Dean.
