Admission to Phd Program - August 2018

IISER Tirupati invites applications from prospective candidates for admission to the Ph.D. programme, August 2018. IISER Tirupati admits students in the disciplines of Biology, Chemistry, Earth & Climate Science, Mathematics, and Physics and associated interdisciplinary areas of research. In addition to research, the programme involves coursework and teaching assistantship.  Students with a master's degree in Science / Mathematics are encouraged to apply to PhD programme.

Eligibility 

Biology :  Students with minimum 55% marks in aggregate (overall percentage; with all subjects) or CGPA 5.5 out of 10-point scale in master's degree in any branch of Science Physics/ Chemistry/ Mathematics/ Biological Sciences/ Ecological Sciences/Agricultural Sciences/ Psychology or any equivalent degree. Candidates with B.E/ B.Tech/ M.Tech/ M.VSc or MBBS degree satisfying the above criteria of marks can also apply.

Chemistry :  Students with minimum 55% marks in aggregate (overall percentage; with all subjects) or CGPA 5.5 out of 10-point scale in master's degree in any branch of Science: Physics/ Chemistry/ Mathematics/ Biology or any equivalent degree. Candidates with B.E/ B.Tech/ B.Pharm/ M.E/ M.Tech/ M.Pharm degree satisfying the above criteria of marks can also apply.

Earth and Climate Science :  Students with minimum 55% marks in aggregate or CGPA 5.5 (in a 10-point scale; with master's degree in Earth Sciences/Geology/Applied Geology or any equivalent degree

Mathematics :  Students with minimum 55% marks in aggregate or CGPA 5.5 (in a 10-point scale with MSc/ M.Stat/BTech/ BE degree or any equivalent degree.

Physics :  Students with minimum 55% marks in aggregate (overall percentage; not only in majoring subject) or CGPA 5.5 out of 10-point scale in master's degree in any branch of Science: Physics/Astronomy & Astrophysics/Chemistry/Mathematics/Biology / B.E/B.Tech/M.E/M.Tech. or any equivalent degree.

Fellowship :  Upon selection and subsequently joining the Ph.D program, candidates who do not possess any CSIR, DBT and INSPIRE, will be eligible for institute fellowship at par with CSIR, DBT etc., but without HRA component.

Age Limit :  Applicants age should not exceed more than 28 years at the time of joining. However, the relaxation in age will be considered as per the Govt. of India regulations.

Selection Procedure : The shortlisted candidates will be called for interview and final selection is based on interview performance.
