Job Description

Key Responsibilities:
1. Over-the-Counter (OTC) Sales:

Greet customers politely and understand their medical or product needs.

Sell prescription and non-prescription medicines over the counter, ensuring safe and appropriate usage.

Provide basic information about medications, including dosage, timing, and possible side effects.

Guide customers on health supplements, medical devices, and general wellness products.
2. Handling Purchases and Billing:
-
Prepare accurate bills/invoices using computer billing software or POS systems.
-
Handle cash payments, UPI transactions, credit/debit cards, and return exact change when needed.

Maintain daily cash reports, reconcile end-of-day totals, and report discrepancies to the supervisor.

Record sales data for inventory tracking and audit purposes.
3. Customer Service and Support:

Offer friendly and respectful customer service to ensure customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Handle queries related to medicine availability, prices, or alternatives.

Guide customers on prescription refill procedures, dosage, and storage instructions.
-
Manage emergency or urgent customer needs with professionalism and urgency.
4. Inventory and Stock Management:

Check stock levels regularly and notify the supervisor about medicines that are running low or nearing expiry.

Receive and verify supplies from distributors; match invoices with received items.
-
Place and track purchase orders for OTC medicines, health supplements, and personal care items.

Organize and label medicines on shelves for easy accessibility and compliance.
5. Compliance and Documentation:

Ensure that schedule H and H1 medicines are sold only against valid prescriptions.

Maintain records of controlled substances and restricted drugs as per local laws.
-
Ensure all medical products are sold within expiry dates and stored under correct conditions.

Follow pharmacy SOPs and local drug regulations regarding sales and recordkeeping.
6. Cleanliness and Safety:

Keep the counter and workspace clean, organized, and presentable.

Ensure proper storage of medicines (e.g., refrigeration for insulin, vaccines).
-
Follow hygiene practices such as wearing a mask, gloves (if required), and maintaining sanitization standards.

Monitor the shop for theft prevention, safety, and emergency response readiness.
