Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
1. Prescription Handling & Dispensing:

Review and validate prescriptions from doctors before dispensing medications.

Ensure the right medicine, dosage, and quantity are provided based on prescription.

Cross-check for potential drug interactions, dosage errors, or allergies where applicable.
-
Guide patients on proper usage, dosage timings, and storage of medicines.
-
Maintain proper documentation of dispensed drugs, as per legal and pharmacy regulations.
2. OTC and Health Product Guidance:

Advise customers on the use of over-the-counter medications such as pain relievers, cold/flu treatments, supplements, and general wellness products.

Recommend suitable alternatives for medications that are out of stock, subject to pharmacist approval.

Educate customers about health and wellness products such as vitamins, protein supplements, first-aid kits, and skincare items.
3. Inventory Management:
-
Monitor stock levels of medicines and health products, and coordinate with suppliers for timely replenishment.

Check expiry dates regularly and remove expired or near-expiry items.
-
Store medicines appropriately based on temperature and manufacturer requirements.
-
Maintain proper labeling and organization of shelves and stockroom.
4. Billing and Recordkeeping:

Generate customer bills using pharmacy billing software or manual records.

Apply discounts and schemes as directed by management.

Maintain daily sales records, prescription logs, and stock movement registers.

Assist in preparing monthly or weekly stock and sales reports.
5. Regulatory Compliance:

Ensure the shop operates in compliance with local laws, including drug licenses and pharmacy regulations.

Safeguard narcotics, scheduled drugs, and high-risk medications in secure storage.

Keep updated records of all scheduled drug transactions.
-
Display certificates, licenses, and price lists as mandated by authorities.
6. Customer Service:

Greet and assist customers in a professional and courteous manner.

Resolve customer complaints and queries related to medicines, availability, or usage.

Maintain a clean and professional front-of-store appearance.
-
Foster customer loyalty by providing accurate information and friendly service.
7. Collaboration and Team Support:

Work closely with pharmacy assistants, storekeepers, and delivery staff to ensure smooth operations.

Train junior staff on proper medicine handling, billing, and customer communication.
-
Coordinate with healthcare providers and clinics for regular prescription processing.
