Pharmacy Technician
Job Description
• Dispensing the drugs as per prescription / indents
• Raising the Pharmacy requisition slips as per requirements
• Receive the stock from stores and check against the Issue slips for quantity, batch no, expiry etc.
• Doing physical verification of stocks with computer, data daily
• Taking the stock of short-expiry medicines once a month
• Taking the stock of non-moving medicines once in 6 months
• Building customer relationship for effective service towards total patient care
Key Responsibilities:
1. Medication Dispensing
-
Assist the pharmacist in preparing and dispensing prescribed medications accurately to patients.

Ensure the correct dosage, packaging, and labeling of medicines.

Cross-check prescriptions and dosage instructions as per standard protocols.
-
Refill prescriptions under the supervision of a registered pharmacist.
2. Customer Service and Patient Interaction
-
Greet and assist customers and patients at the pharmacy counter.

Respond to inquiries about medication availability, dosage instructions, and general health-related questions (under the pharmacist’s guidance).

Maintain a courteous and professional tone while dealing with customers.
3. Prescription Processing
-
Receive and verify prescriptions from customers or doctors.

Enter prescription information into the pharmacy system/software with precision.

Maintain prescription records and digital logs as per pharmacy regulations.
4. Inventory Management
-
Track stock levels of medicines, surgical supplies, and OTC products.
-
Assist in checking expiry dates and ensuring proper rotation of stock (FIFO method).

Help with ordering new supplies and updating stock entries in inventory software.

Receive and verify supplier deliveries against purchase orders and invoices.
5. Pharmacy Store Maintenance
-
Ensure that the pharmacy area is clean, organized, and in compliance with health and safety regulations.

Maintain proper storage conditions for medicines (e.g., refrigeration for specific drugs).
-
Arrange products on shelves in an orderly and accessible manner.
-
Dispose of expired or damaged medicines as per biomedical waste norms.
6. Documentation and Reporting
-
Maintain accurate records of sales, returns, and prescriptions.

Assist with preparation of monthly stock reports, billing summaries, and vendor records.

Support billing operations using pharmacy software and POS (Point of Sale) systems.
7. Compliance and Regulatory Support
-
Follow protocols as per Drug Control Department and State Pharmacy Council guidelines.

Ensure prescriptions are dispensed only for registered medications.

Help maintain compliance documentation for audits and inspections.
