5. Project title: Longitudinal effects of Air Pollution Exposures on Lung growth anddevelopment of biomarker of lung function deficit in Urban Children

6. About the project: This multi-centric, multi-partner DBT-Wellcome Trust India Alliance funded project has following aims

a. to conduct a longitudinal, prospective cohort study to measure the growth of lung function in schoolchildren (age 11 to 14 years), over a period of 5 years, residing in Mumbai,

b. to assess the long-term exposures of air pollution in four cities including Mumbai, and

c. to study the association between air pollution and lung function in children and examine the individual and community level factors modifying their association. The study involves field monitoring, laboratory chemical analysis, conducting spirometry, biosamples (blood, urine, hair and nails) collection and administering structured questionnaire surveys in Mumbai.

7. Essential Qualifications & Experience:

a. The candidate should be DMLT with 2 years of research experience / social services experience.

8. Desirable Experience: Candidates with prior laboratory and clinical experience in collecting biosamples or conducting community surveys will be preferred. Candidates with fluency in Marathi will be a huge advantage.

9. Job Profile: Collecting blood samples from the selected study subjects in schools in Mumbai. Co-ordinate the transport and storage of biosamples, their processing in the lab and final shipment to Data Coordination Centre in Mysuru. Data entry and report preparation.

10. Pay Details: Level PR A3 : Salary range from Rs.25200 to Rs 50400 + Rs 5000/- Out of Campus Allowances (if applicable) p.m.
