Job Description
This is a full-time on-site Physiotherapist role located in Bengaluru at The Association of People with Disability (APD). The Physiotherapist will be responsible for providing services to adults with spinal cord injury.
Qualifications
- Experience in providing physiotherapy services to individuals with disabilities
- Strong knowledge of various physiotherapy techniques and rehabilitation methods
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
- Bachelors in Physiotherapy
- Experience working with children and adults with disabilities is a plus
- Preference for fresher male applicants
Key Responsibilities:
1. Patient Assessment & Diagnosis:

Conduct thorough assessments of patients’ physical conditions, functional limitations, range of motion, posture, and pain levels.

Review medical histories, diagnostic reports (X-rays, MRIs), and referrals from physicians or surgeons.

Identify movement dysfunctions and determine the root cause of the physical condition or injury.
2. Treatment Planning:
-
Design personalized physiotherapy treatment plans for patients based on their diagnosis, physical ability, age, and recovery objectives.

Set short- and long-term rehabilitation goals in consultation with the patient and their family (if applicable).

Adjust treatment plans based on progress or any emerging complications.
3. Implementation of Therapy:

Administer a range of physiotherapy techniques including:

Therapeutic exercises (strengthening, stretching, mobilization)
-
Manual therapy (soft tissue massage, joint manipulation)
-
Electrotherapy (TENS, IFT, ultrasound, laser therapy)
-
Heat and cold applications
-
Balance and coordination training
-

Educate patients on at-home exercises and ergonomics for long-term recovery and injury prevention.
4. Monitoring & Progress Evaluation:

Continuously track patients’ progress, evaluate treatment effectiveness, and document improvements or setbacks.

Modify therapy approaches as needed to enhance outcomes.

Provide regular reports and updates to doctors, orthopedic surgeons, or referring specialists.
5. Patient Education & Counselling:
-
Instruct patients and caregivers on proper body mechanics, posture, lifestyle changes, and injury prevention.

Provide emotional support and motivation to patients coping with long-term physical limitations or chronic pain.

Promote self-management strategies to encourage patient independence.
6. Multidisciplinary Collaboration:

Work as part of a rehabilitation team including physicians, orthopedic surgeons, occupational therapists, and nurses.

Participate in case discussions and coordinate care plans for complex cases.

Refer patients to other specialists when necessary.
7. Record-Keeping & Compliance:
-
Maintain accurate and confidential patient records, including assessments, treatment notes, and progress evaluations.

Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, clinic policies, and professional ethical standards.

Adhere to infection control and equipment sterilization protocols.
8. Professional Development:

Stay updated with the latest developments, techniques, and technologies in physiotherapy.

Attend workshops, seminars, and certification courses to maintain clinical excellence.

Contribute to patient awareness campaigns, fitness programs, or wellness initiatives.
