Job Description
picker and packer is a warehouse worker responsible for locating, selecting, and preparing items for shipping according to customer orders. The role is physically active and requires close attention to detail to ensure accuracy and quality control.
Responsibilities
Order fulfillment: Accurately select items from warehouse shelves based on order slips or digital scanners.
Quality control: Inspect items for damage or defects before packing them for shipment.
Packaging: Securely pack and label orders using appropriate materials to prevent damage during transit.
Inventory management: Help with sorting, stocking, and restocking products. Use computer systems or scanners to track inventory.
Shipment preparation: Weigh packages, create shipping labels, complete necessary paperwork, and stage completed orders in the correct delivery area.
Loading: Assist with loading and unloading delivery trucks as needed.
Equipment operation: Operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, or other machinery, if certified.
Safety and cleanliness: Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment, following all established protocols.
Qualifications and skills
Physical fitness: The ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy items (often up to 50 pounds), and perform repetitive tasks is required.
Attention to detail: Excellent accuracy is needed to match products and quantities to orders and to ensure proper labeling.
Teamwork and communication: Strong interpersonal skills for collaborating effectively with other warehouse staff.
Time management: The ability to work efficiently and meet daily productivity and shipping goals.
