Job Description
Job Summary:
The Picker and Packer is a key role within warehouse and logistics operations, responsible for accurately selecting and preparing orders for shipment. This role involves locating items in the warehouse according to order slips or pick lists, carefully packing them for shipping, and ensuring that customer orders are processed efficiently, correctly, and on time.
Ideal candidates should be physically fit, detail-oriented, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment. A Picker and Packer must follow safety and quality standards, use basic warehouse tools or scanning equipment, and maintain cleanliness and organization in their work area.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Order Picking

Read and interpret order sheets, picking slips, or electronic order information.

Locate products in the warehouse using bin numbers, location tags, or barcode scanning systems.

Pick items accurately and efficiently, ensuring the correct quantity and type of products are selected.

Handle goods carefully to prevent damage or spoilage.
2. Packing and Packaging

Check picked items for quality and accuracy before packing.

Pack orders securely using appropriate materials such as boxes, bubble wrap, padding, or shrink wrap.

Label and tag packages correctly, including shipping labels, barcodes, or handling instructions.

Ensure packaging complies with company standards and customer requirements.
3. Inventory Management Support

Report any inventory discrepancies, stock shortages, or product damage to supervisors.

Assist with cycle counting and periodic inventory checks as required.

Replenish picking bins and maintain stock organization in designated areas.

Help in receiving, sorting, and placing incoming inventory appropriately.
4. Use of Equipment

Operate hand-held scanners, barcode readers, or tablets to track inventory and process orders.

Use warehouse equipment like pallet jacks, hand trucks, or trolleys to move goods safely.

Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to the supervisor immediately.
5. Warehouse Organization and Cleanliness

Keep the picking and packing areas neat, clean, and well-organized.

Follow workplace safety and hygiene procedures, especially when handling food, chemicals, or fragile items.

Dispose of packaging waste and materials responsibly, adhering to warehouse policies.
6. Coordination and Teamwork

Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and other departments (e.g., shipping, quality control).

Support other warehouse tasks when needed, including shipping, sorting, or loading/unloading trucks.

Participate in team meetings, training sessions, or process improvement discussions.
Skills and Competencies:

Attention to Detail: Accuracy in picking the correct items and quantities is critical.

Physical Fitness: Ability to stand, walk, lift, and carry items for extended periods (may require lifting up to 20–30 kg).
