Position Overview
A Picker and Packer is responsible for accurately selecting, packing, labeling, and dispatching products in warehouses, distribution centers, or e-commerce facilities. The role focuses on maintaining inventory accuracy, meeting delivery timelines, and ensuring product quality. Picker and Packer professionals are crucial to smooth supply chain operations by ensuring that customer orders are processed quickly, correctly, and efficiently.
This role requires attention to detail, physical stamina, time management, and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
1. Order Picking & Processing

Read and understand order sheets, invoices, or system-generated picking lists.

Accurately locate products within the warehouse using racks, shelves, or bins.

Ensure correct quantities, sizes, and product specifications before packing.

Use handheld scanners, barcodes, or warehouse management systems (WMS) for real-time updates.

Prioritize urgent orders to meet dispatch timelines.
2. Packing & Labeling
-
Pack items securely to prevent damage during transportation.

Choose appropriate packaging materials such as boxes, wraps, and bubble sheets.

Print and attach correct shipping labels, barcodes, and invoices on packages.

Ensure that fragile items are handled and packed safely.

Meet company standards for packaging appearance and consistency.
3. Inventory Management

Assist in stock counting, cycle checks, and physical inventory audits.

Update stock levels in the warehouse system after each picking or packing activity.

Report damaged, missing, or expired products immediately to the supervisor.

Maintain proper storage conditions for different types of products.

Ensure inventory accuracy by avoiding picking or packing errors.
4. Quality Checks & Product Verification

Inspect products for defects, damages, or incorrect labeling before packaging.

Ensure products meet company quality standards and customer expectations.

Verify batch numbers, manufacturing dates, and expiry dates where applicable.

Escalate discrepancies to the warehouse supervisor or quality team.
5. Shipping & Dispatch Support

Prepare packed goods for loading and transportation.
-
Coordinate with logistics and dispatch teams to meet shipment schedules.

Assist in loading products onto trucks or pallets where required.

Ensure compliance with safety regulations during handling and shipping processes.
6. Safety, Hygiene & Cleanliness
-
Follow workplace safety guidelines and company health policies.

Use safety equipment like gloves, helmets, and shoes where necessary.

Maintain cleanliness and organization in the warehouse and packing areas.

Dispose of waste materials and damaged packaging as per company procedures.
-
Report safety hazards or accidents to the supervisor immediately.
7. Coordination & Teamwork

Work closely with fellow pickers, packers, supervisors, and logistics staff.

Communicate effectively to ensure smooth operations and minimize errors.
-
Support other departments when required, such as receiving, stocking, or returns processing.

Participate in daily team briefings, updates, and training sessions.
