Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
1. Order Picking:
-
Accurately pick items for customer orders using printed or digital picking lists.

Ensure that the correct brand, size, and quantity of items are selected.

Check expiry dates on perishable goods and ensure only fresh and quality items are picked.
-
Carefully handle items such as eggs, glass bottles, and fresh produce to prevent damage.
2. Packing and Organization:
-
Pack grocery items in a way that prevents damage during transit, separating heavy and light items accordingly.
-
Use appropriate bags or cartons and follow packing standards for different item categories (frozen, chilled, dry, fragile).
-
Label each package with order details or delivery codes to ensure accurate dispatch.
-
Ensure perishable items are packed with insulation or cooling packs when necessary.
3. Product Handling and Hygiene:
-
Maintain cleanliness of the picking and packing areas at all times.
-
Follow food safety standards and hygiene protocols while handling fresh produce, meat, dairy, and bakery items.

Wear appropriate protective gear such as gloves, hairnets, or aprons when required.

Dispose of damaged or expired items appropriately and inform supervisors of quality issues.
4. Equipment Use and Inventory Support:

Operate trolleys, handheld scanners, and tablets as required for order tracking.

Replenish shelves or packing stations with packaging materials, bags, and inventory as directed.

Report low stock or inventory discrepancies to the inventory team or supervisor.

Participate in stock counts, expiry checks, or shelf audits when needed.
5. Coordination and Communication:
-
Work closely with team members in picking, packing, and dispatch departments to ensure smooth order flow.

Communicate clearly about missing items, substitutions, or issues encountered during order preparation.
-
Escalate customer complaints or incorrect orders to supervisors for immediate resolution.

Provide input for process improvements or customer satisfaction initiatives.
