Job Description
Picking:
Locating and selecting items:
Picking involves finding the correct items from warehouse shelves based on order information.
Verifying items:
This includes checking item details (quantity, description, etc.) against the order to ensure accuracy.
Using technology:
Pickers may use RF scanners or other devices to locate items and track their progress.
Packing:
Preparing items for shipment: This includes choosing the appropriate packaging (box, envelope, etc.) and securing items with padding or other materials.
Labeling packages: Applying shipping labels with the correct address and order information.
Ensuring quality: Checking for any damage or defects before packaging items for shipment.
Other responsibilities:
Inventory management: May be involved in tasks like restocking shelves, cycle counting, and reporting discrepancies.
Maintaining a clean and organized workspace: Keeping the picking and packing areas tidy and efficient.
Working with other warehouse staff: Collaborating with team members to ensure smooth operations.
Operating warehouse equipment: Using tools like pallet jacks or hand trucks.
Quality control: Inspecting items for damage or defects before they are packed.
Skills and qualifications:
Attention to detail: Essential for accuracy in picking and packing.
Physical stamina: Involves standing, walking, lifting, and repetitive movements.
Basic math skills: For counting and verifying quantities.
Ability to follow instructions: Both written and verbal.
Teamwork and communication skills: To work effectively with others.
Experience in a warehouse environment is often preferred.
Ability to work in various temperature conditions.
