Pipe Welder
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
1. Pipe Welding and Fabrication:
-
Perform welding on pipes using various welding techniques (TIG, MIG, SMAW/Stick, FCAW).
-
Cut, bevel, and fit pipes using hand tools and power tools as per specifications.

Weld pipe components together in accordance with engineering drawings and welding codes (e.g., ASME, API).
2. Blueprint Reading and Interpretation:
-
Read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and welding symbols to determine specifications and procedures.

Follow detailed welding procedures and piping diagrams to ensure accuracy.
3. Welding Inspection and Testing:
-
Inspect welds to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.

Conduct non-destructive testing (NDT) where applicable or assist inspectors during testing.

Repair defective welds using grinding, cutting, and re-welding techniques.
4. Equipment Setup and Maintenance:

Set up and operate welding machines and related equipment.
-
Maintain and calibrate welding machines, torches, and safety gear.
-
Ensure proper storage and handling of welding rods, wires, gases, and tools.
5. Safety and Compliance:
-
Follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as helmets, gloves, goggles, and fire-resistant clothing.

Work in compliance with occupational health and safety standards and site regulations.

Safely handle flammable materials and work in confined spaces when required.
6. Pipe Alignment and Assembly:
-
Align and clamp pipe sections before welding to ensure correct fit and orientation.

Assemble pipe systems by using welding techniques or flanges, couplings, and other fittings.

Ensure correct slopes, angles, and directions for fluid or gas flow in pipelines.
7. Site and Workshop Work:
-
Perform welding work at various job sites, including construction, shipyards, factories, or oil & gas fields.
-
Work indoors or outdoors depending on project location and environment.
