Policy Interns
Job Description
- Assist staff by conducting legislative research,
developing policy fact sheets, tracking legislation, and attending hearings and
briefings.
- Attend conferences, briefings, and forums as a
representative of Community Action.
- The Policy Intern will be responsible for tracking policy developments, providing analysis to help nonprofits respond effectively, and other duties as assigned.
- Interns may be students at the
undergraduate or graduate level.
- Successful candidates should:
- Have an interest in social justice, public
policy, and nonprofit work
- Previously have taken some coursework related to
public policy such as Introduction to Public Policy, Introduction to Political
Science, or Social Movements
- Be a team-player
- Be a self-starter
- Be detail oriented and well organized
- Have the flexibility to respond quickly to rapid
movements in legislation
- Evidence strength in synthesizing and analysing
information
- Enjoy organizing and completing routine tasks
daily
- Complete routine tasks quickly and
thoughtfully
- Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Google
Drive
- Be willing to learn legislative and regulatory
software
- Be willing to ask for help or recognize and address potential issues early
Qualification
- The internship is open to an
undergraduate or graduate student interested in public policy, poverty,
education, income inequality, homelessness or advocacy.
