Job Description
Recruitment of Post Doctoral Fellow
One Post-Doctoral position in Optical Astronomy is available at the Indian Centre for Space Physics.
The candidate will be posted at Sitapur, Midnapur at the Ionospheric and Earthquake Research Centre and Optical Observatory (IERCOO).
A consolidated salary would be Rs. 45000 per month and appropriate HRA would be deducted. The candidate must have submitted his/her thesis by March 2019 or received PhD not before 1st January, 2017.
The candidate should have a minimum of 2 papers International refereed Journals. The candidate must have first hand experience to carry out optical observation and the data (photometry, imaging, spectrometry) analysis.
IERCOO has a 0.61m CDK Plainwave made reflector and a 0.25m Meade reflector along with CCD cameras and spectroscope.

It is a Govt. aided institution, but majority of the research fund comes from projects from National and International funding agencies. Major projects are from ISRO and DST. CSIR (NET) scholars can also directly carry out Ph.D. programme here. It is an autonomous body, recognized by the Calcutta University. Presently, students working towards Ph.D. are taken. However, MSc students do carry out projects also.
