Job Description
Postdoctoral Fellow recruitment in ICRISAT to be based in Niamey, Niger.
Required Criteria: PhD degree in agriculture, crop or forage science, animal production or related discipline with experience in livestock systems related research. Ability to independently organize and implement on-station and on-farm experiments involving crops, forages and animals that provide high quality datasets that inform the promotion of crop-livestock farming systems.Demonstrated ability to scientifically write as evidenced by a good publication record of research papers in refereed journals. Strong statistical skills, knowledge of computer applications and software for data management and analysis. Fluency in English and French.
Experience in working with a wide range of stakeholders and desire to work in interdisciplinary teams. Willingness/ability to live, work and travel frequently in Niger, Burkina Faso and the region.
Desirable Criteria: A high level of competency in the design and implementation of animal feeding experiments. Expertise in the parameterization, validation and application of crop, forage or livestock models in research and incorporation of findings into extension material and publications. Understanding of semi-arid smallholder farming systems and their constraints and opportunities for sustainable intensification and value chain opportunities. Demonstrated ability to write proposals and fund raise.
General: This is a postdoctoral fellow position for 2 years, renewable based on the performance of the incumbent and continuing availability of funding. An attractive compensation is offered for the right candidate.
