Key Responsibilities
1. Curriculum Planning and Instruction

Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that align with early childhood education standards and the specific goals of the preschool.

Incorporate educational activities that promote literacy, numeracy, science, and social studies, along with arts, music, and physical development.

Use a variety of instructional methods, including storytelling, games, songs, free play, and group activities, to engage different learning styles.

Encourage problem-solving, critical thinking, and social interaction through structured and unstructured play.
2. Classroom Management and Environment

Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom setting that supports learning and exploration.

Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures to maintain order among the students.

Observe children’s interactions to identify any issues or areas for development and intervene appropriately.

Use positive reinforcement and age-appropriate discipline methods to guide behavior and promote a respectful, inclusive classroom culture.
3. Child Development and Assessment

Monitor each child’s development and learning progress across all areas—cognitive, physical, emotional, and social.

Perform regular assessments using observation, checklists, and developmental milestones to identify student needs and inform instruction.

Maintain accurate records and portfolios of children’s progress, behaviors, and achievements.

Collaborate with special education staff, speech therapists, or counselors when developmental concerns arise.
4. Parent and Family Engagement

Communicate regularly and effectively with parents or guardians through meetings, newsletters, phone calls, and emails.

Provide updates on child development, behavior, and classroom activities.

Organize parent-teacher conferences and encourage parental involvement in school events and activities.

Serve as a resource for parents on child-rearing practices and developmental expectations.
5. Team Collaboration and Professional Development

Work collaboratively with co-teachers, teaching assistants, and other staff to create a cohesive learning environment.

Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and workshops to stay informed about early childhood education trends and best practices.

Contribute to school-wide initiatives, special programs, and community events.

Adhere to all school policies, licensing regulations, and health and safety requirements.
