Job Description – Opex & Capex (Materials)
Responsibilities:
Coordinate with internal stakeholders to gather inputs, requirements, and technical specifications related to project CAPEX.
Float RFQs through the digital procurement platform in accordance with organizational procedures.
Evaluate vendor capabilities to verify alignment with technical and commercial specifications.
Engage with suppliers for bid invitations and obtain competitive quotations.
Support senior management during negotiations by preparing comparative statements, analysing price trends, and referencing previous purchase orders.
Participate in discussions with supervisors/team leaders for the assessment and final selection of bids and vendors based on economic viability.
Coordinate with supervisors to secure approvals for selected vendors and purchase orders raised for materials.
Classify bids as per value thresholds and initiate e-auction processes where applicable.
Escalate special or non-routine quotations for further review and approval.
Ensure accurate and systematic tabulation of vendor bids as per CEAT’s defined formats and systems.
Assist team leaders in ensuring timely creation and release of purchase orders.
Incorporate all relevant terms and conditions—such as material test requirements, late delivery penalties, and other commercial clauses—into purchase orders.
Follow up on pending purchase orders to ensure timely delivery of materials.
Coordinate with Finance and user departments to resolve vendor payment-related issues.
Analyse market trends and supplier performance to identify opportunities for cost optimization and process improvement.
