Job Description
Job Summary:
The Production and Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that manufacturing processes and products meet defined quality standards and specifications. This role involves conducting and overseeing various types of inspections — including incoming, in-process, and final inspections — to identify nonconforming products and ensure compliance with internal quality systems, customer requirements, and regulatory standards.
The ideal candidate should have a strong technical background, attention to detail, and experience in identifying, analyzing, and resolving quality-related issues. The Production and Quality Engineer works closely with cross-functional teams such as manufacturing, engineering, procurement, and supply chain to maintain and continuously improve product quality and production efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Inspection and Quality Control

Perform and document incoming (receiving), in-process, and final inspections of materials, components, and finished products.

Verify that parts and products meet required specifications, tolerances, and quality standards before proceeding to the next production phase or delivery to the customer.

Utilize tools such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) for dimensional inspections.

Interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and quality standards to assess compliance.
2. Identify and Address Nonconforming Products
-
Detect nonconformities during inspection or production and ensure they are properly recorded and segregated from acceptable products.

Initiate nonconformance reports (NCRs), conduct root cause analysis (RCA), and collaborate with the team to implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

Maintain accurate records of quality issues, rework, repairs, and scrap, and report findings to relevant stakeholders.

Monitor effectiveness of implemented corrective actions over time and revise procedures if necessary.
3. Compliance and Documentation

Ensure compliance with the company’s internal quality management system (QMS) and applicable regulatory or customer requirements (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949, AS9100 depending on industry).

Maintain proper documentation of inspection records, quality reports, calibration logs, control plans, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Support internal and external audits by providing documentation, reports, and product history as required.
4. Quality System and Process Improvements

Participate in quality system reviews, audits, and process evaluations to identify opportunities for improvement.

Contribute to the development and revision of quality control plans, work instructions, and inspection procedures.

Use statistical process control (SPC), Six Sigma, or Lean methodologies to identify trends, reduce variation, and optimize quality performance.

Assist in the training of production staff on quality practices, inspection techniques, and defect prevention.
5. Cross-Functional Collaboration
-
Work closely with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to ensure that quality standards are understood and followed at every step.

Provide real-time feedback to operators and supervisors to correct quality issues and improve processes.

Support new product introductions (NPIs) by reviewing designs for manufacturability and quality assurance.
6. Calibration and Equipment Maintenance

Ensure all measuring and testing equipment used in inspections is calibrated and functioning properly.

Maintain calibration schedules and records in line with the QMS and regulatory requirements.
