Production and Quality Engineer
Job Description
Job Summary:
The Production and Quality Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring that all manufacturing processes and products meet strict quality standards while supporting efficient production. This position involves managing multiple quality inspection processes—such as receiving inspection, in-process inspection, and final product inspection—and identifying any nonconforming products early to minimize defects and ensure customer satisfaction.
The ideal candidate will be proficient in quality control techniques, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies. They will work closely with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to maintain compliance with internal quality systems, business policies, customer requirements, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Inspection and Quality Control

Conduct thorough Receiving Inspection of raw materials and components to verify conformance to specifications before use in production.

Perform In-Process Inspection during various stages of production to monitor quality, identify defects early, and recommend corrective measures.

Execute Final Inspection of finished goods to ensure products meet all customer and regulatory requirements before shipment.

Use appropriate measuring instruments and equipment, such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM), to perform inspections accurately.

Interpret engineering drawings, technical documents, and quality standards to assess product compliance.
2. Nonconformance Identification and Resolution

Identify and document nonconforming products at any stage of production.

Initiate and maintain nonconformance reports (NCRs) and ensure that defective products are segregated and handled according to company procedures.

Lead or participate in root cause analysis (RCA) investigations for recurring quality issues using tools such as 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, or Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).

Collaborate with production and engineering teams to develop and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to eliminate defects and prevent recurrence.

Monitor the effectiveness of corrective actions and update processes accordingly.
3. Compliance and Quality Systems

Ensure all quality inspections and processes comply with the company’s Quality Management System (QMS), such as ISO 9001 or other relevant standards.

Maintain compliance with customer specifications, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.

Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation, quality records, inspection reports, and product certifications.

Assist in maintaining and updating quality documentation, including inspection plans, work instructions, control plans, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
4. Process Improvement and Quality Assurance

Continuously analyze production and quality data to identify trends, deviations, and opportunities for improvement.

Support Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives to reduce waste, improve process capability, and enhance product quality.

Facilitate training and awareness programs for production staff on quality standards, inspection techniques, and defect prevention.

Participate in new product introductions (NPI) and process validation activities to ensure manufacturability and quality from the outset.
5. Collaboration and Communication

Work closely with cross-functional teams including production, engineering, procurement, and supply chain to resolve quality issues and improve processes.

Provide real-time feedback to operators and supervisors on quality concerns and inspection results.

Communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders regarding product quality, inspection results, and corrective actions.
6. Equipment Calibration and Maintenance

Ensure all inspection and measuring equipment is regularly calibrated and maintained according to established schedules.

Keep accurate calibration records and coordinate with vendors or calibration service providers as needed.
