Position Summary:
We invite applications for the position of Professor of Biochemistry at the Master’s (M.S.) level in the Department of Biochemistry. We are seeking a dynamic, experienced, and highly motivated educator and researcher who will contribute to our graduate program by teaching core and advanced courses, mentoring students, and conducting high-quality research in the field of biochemistry.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach graduate-level coursework, engage in scholarly activity, participate in curriculum development, and contribute to the academic growth of the department. This role is integral to supporting our commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and service.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Teaching and Instruction

Develop and deliver graduate-level courses in biochemistry, including both theoretical and laboratory components.

Teach foundational courses such as molecular biology, enzymology, metabolic pathways, and protein structure and function, as well as advanced electives aligned with the candidate’s expertise.

Use innovative, evidence-based teaching methodologies that promote student engagement and learning.

Supervise and mentor M.S. students in thesis research, independent projects, and academic development.

Prepare syllabi, assignments, exams, and other instructional materials in alignment with institutional and accreditation standards.
2. Research and Scholarship

Conduct original research in the field of biochemistry and publish findings in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

Develop a sustainable, externally funded research program that involves graduate students.

Collaborate with fellow faculty members on interdisciplinary research projects within the department and across other departments or institutions.

Present research at academic conferences and symposia.

Remain current in the field by staying informed of relevant literature, technological advances, and scientific trends.
3. Student Mentorship and Academic Advising

Provide academic advising and career guidance to M.S. students.

Supervise students conducting thesis and non-thesis research.

Serve as a member or chair of graduate thesis committees.

Help students develop research proposals, manuscripts, and presentations.
4. Curriculum and Program Development

Participate in the design, revision, and improvement of M.S. program curriculum and learning outcomes.

Ensure course content reflects current developments and aligns with the department’s academic goals.

Assist in accreditation, program reviews, and assessment of student learning outcomes.
5. Departmental and Institutional Service

Participate actively in department meetings, committees, and institutional governance.

Contribute to student recruitment and outreach activities for the biochemistry graduate program.

Engage in service activities within the institution, professional societies, and the broader scientific community.
