Prior experience needed especially for central govt project depts (like cpwd nbcc npcc railways etc.)

 

Need to head overall purchase department

 

Main skill- Vendor negotiation and finalisation of Purchase Orders

Key Responsibilities:

1. Procurement Strategy and Planning:

  • Develop and implement strategic procurement plans to ensure the timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services.

  • Forecast and analyze procurement needs based on business requirements, production schedules, and future demands.

  • Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers to secure favorable terms, high-quality products, and reliable delivery schedules.

  • Continuously review and refine procurement processes to ensure efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with business goals.

2. Supplier Management:

  • Evaluate and select suppliers based on quality, reliability, price competitiveness, and adherence to company standards.

  • Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to secure the best possible prices and terms while maintaining high product and service quality.

  • Conduct regular supplier evaluations to ensure continued compliance with contract terms and resolve any issues related to quality, delivery, or service.

  • Develop and maintain a vendor database, including performance metrics and compliance records.

3. Purchasing Operations:

  • Manage day-to-day purchasing activities, including raising purchase orders, managing supplier deliveries, and monitoring inventory levels.

  • Work closely with the finance department to ensure that purchase orders are processed and invoicing is accurate and timely.

  • Oversee inventory control to prevent shortages or overstocking, ensuring optimal stock levels to meet production or operational needs.

  • Ensure all purchasing processes comply with company policies, legal requirements, and industry standards.

4. Budgeting and Cost Management:

  • Work with senior management to establish procurement budgets and cost control measures.

  • Monitor and track purchasing expenditures and identify cost-saving opportunities through vendor negotiation, bulk buying, or alternative sourcing.

  • Ensure that all purchasing activities are within budget and aligned with the company’s financial goals.

  • Provide regular reports on purchasing trends, cost analysis, and savings initiatives.

5. Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead and manage the purchasing team, ensuring effective delegation of tasks and responsibility.

  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and training to team members to enhance their skills and support their career development.

  • Conduct performance reviews, set goals, and ensure team members are aligned with company objectives.

  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the purchasing department.

6. Compliance and Documentation:

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards related to procurement activities.

  • Maintain accurate records of all procurement transactions, contracts, and supplier communications.

  • Prepare and present regular reports to senior management on purchasing performance, challenges, and opportunities.
