Job Description

We are looking for a quality engineer to monitor and improve the quality of our operational processes and outputs. The quality engineer's responsibilities include designing quality standards, inspecting materials, equipment, processes, and products, developing quality control systems, and determining corrective actions. You will also work with managers and supervisors to implement quality measures.

Qualification: BE/BTech in Mechanical Engineering
Experience: 1– 2 years

Key Responsibilities:

1. Quality Planning and Strategy:

Develop and implement quality control plans, inspection procedures, and test methods for mechanical parts and assemblies.
Participate in the product development process to ensure quality requirements are integrated from the initial design stage.
Conduct Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to identify potential issues and plan mitigation strategies.

2. Inspection and Testing:

Perform or oversee inspections of raw materials, in-process components, and finished products using tools like calipers, micrometers, CMMs (Coordinate Measuring Machines), and gauges.
Carry out non-destructive testing (NDT), mechanical testing (e.g., tensile, hardness), and dimensional checks to validate product quality.
Ensure proper documentation of inspection results and maintain inspection records in line with company standards.

3. Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action:

Investigate quality-related issues reported during production or from customer feedback.
Perform root cause analysis using tools like 5 Whys, Fishbone (Ishikawa) diagrams, and Pareto analysis.
Recommend and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to eliminate recurring problems.

4. Process Improvement and Auditing:

Analyze manufacturing processes to identify areas of waste, variation, and inefficiency.
Implement Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Kaizen methodologies to improve product quality and reduce costs.
Conduct internal audits and support external audits (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949) to ensure compliance with quality management systems.

5. Supplier Quality Management:

Evaluate and approve suppliers based on quality criteria.
Conduct supplier audits, quality reviews, and on-site inspections as needed.
Collaborate with vendors to resolve quality concerns and improve supplied part quality.

6. Documentation and Reporting:

Prepare quality documentation such as inspection reports, deviation reports, control plans, PPAP (Production Part Approval Process), and quality manuals.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of test results, corrective actions, and process changes.
Provide detailed reports to management on quality performance metrics and improvement initiatives.

7. Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Work closely with design, production, and maintenance teams to ensure a unified approach to quality.
Participate in cross-functional team meetings and represent the quality department in project reviews and technical discussions.
