A recovery lead is a management or senior position responsible for developing and implementing strategies to recover overdue debts or assist individuals and organizations in regaining financial stability. Key responsibilities include leading a team, analyzing accounts, negotiating payment plans, ensuring legal compliance, and reporting on recovery progress. Qualifications typically involve a bachelor's degree, experience in collections or recovery, and strong leadership, negotiation, and analytical skills.
Key responsibilities
- Strategy development: Develop and implement effective debt recovery strategies to minimize financial loss.
- Team leadership: Lead, manage, and mentor a team of recovery specialists, providing guidance and support.
- Account management: Oversee the management of delinquent accounts, including analyzing risk and creating recovery plans.
- Negotiation: Guide and approve complex negotiations with clients to arrange payment plans and settlements.
- Reporting: Prepare and present detailed reports on recovery progress, performance, and trends to senior management.
- Compliance: Ensure all recovery activities comply with relevant financial laws and regulations.
- Collaboration: Work with legal, compliance, and other departments on escalated cases or complex issues.
- Process improvement: Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the recovery process.
Qualifications and skills
- Education: Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: Several years of experience in debt recovery, collections, risk management, or a similar field are essential.
- Leadership: Proven leadership and team management skills are crucial for leading a recovery team.
- Analytical: Strong analytical skills to evaluate financial situations, assess risk, and develop effective strategies.
- Negotiation: Excellent negotiation and communication skills to handle sensitive client interactions and secure payment arrangements.
- Compliance: Thorough knowledge of relevant financial laws and regulations is required.
- Technical: Proficiency with collections software, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) is necessary.
