Job Summary:

We are seeking a qualified and registered Pharmacist with a Diploma in Pharmacy (D. Pharmacy) and valid registration with the Maharashtra State Pharmacy Council. The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of medicines, dosage calculations, and pharmacy software. The Pharmacist will be responsible for the accurate dispensing of medicines, maintaining proper inventory, and ensuring that all pharmaceutical products are stored in dust-free, hygienic conditions.

As a vital part of the healthcare delivery system, the Pharmacist must uphold professional ethics and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. They are expected to provide correct information to patients and healthcare providers regarding medications and be accountable for maintaining safety, cleanliness, and documentation within the pharmacy premises.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Dispensing & Prescription Review:

• Accurately dispense prescription medications to patients as per doctors’ instructions.

• Review prescriptions for accuracy and legibility, ensuring there are no contraindications or drug interactions.

• Provide patients with clear guidance on medication usage, dosage timings, potential side effects, and storage instructions.

• Ensure prescriptions comply with legal and regulatory requirements.

2. Medicine Knowledge & Dosage Understanding:

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medicines including generic and branded drugs, usage, dosage forms, contraindications, and side effects.

• Advise customers and medical staff on the selection, dosage, interactions, and side effects of medications.

• Counsel patients about over-the-counter (OTC) medications and wellness products when needed.

3. Inventory & Stock Management:

• Monitor and manage stock levels of medicines and pharmacy items to avoid shortages or overstocking.

• Ensure First-In-First-Out (FIFO) and First-Expire-First-Out (FEFO) principles are followed in inventory control.

• Check expiry dates of medicines regularly and remove expired items from shelves in compliance with pharmacy laws.

• Place orders for replenishment in coordination with the procurement or store department.

4. Cleanliness & Storage:

• Ensure that all medicines are stored in a dust-free, clean, and organized manner following recommended temperature and humidity guidelines.

• Maintain cleanliness in the dispensing and storage areas, adhering to hygiene standards.

• Regularly clean shelves, cabinets, and refrigeration units used for medicine storage.

5. Documentation & Record Keeping:

• Maintain accurate records of prescriptions, dispensed medicines, stock levels, and expired medications.

• Enter and update patient and medicine information into pharmacy management software.

• Maintain documentation of controlled substances in compliance with local regulations.

6. Software & Technology Use:

• Operate pharmacy software efficiently for billing, inventory management, and record-keeping.

• Generate reports for stock, sales, and consumption trends using digital tools.

• Ensure barcoding, labeling, and medicine categorization are maintained digitally and physically.

7. Compliance & Regulations:

• Ensure the pharmacy is compliant with Maharashtra State Pharmacy Council guidelines and Drug & Cosmetic Act regulations.

• Maintain a valid and current pharmacist license and display it as required.

• Follow professional ethics and maintain confidentiality of patient data and prescriptions.

8. Customer Service & Communication:

• Attend to customer queries with professionalism and care.

• Address issues related to medicine availability, alternatives, or dosage clarification.

• Coordinate with doctors and medical staff for clarifications when needed.

• Offer friendly and respectful service to all walk-in customers and patients.
