Job Description

Job Summary

The Relationship Officer is responsible for managing end-to-end interactions with customers applying for loans and serving as a key point of contact between the customer and our partner banks. This includes understanding the applicant’s loan requirements, evaluating eligibility, guiding them through the documentation process, and ensuring smooth submission and approval of loan applications through our banking partners.

In addition to direct customer handling, the Relationship Officer plays a vital role in building and maintaining strong professional relationships with the staff of our partner bank branches to ensure timely processing, resolve application issues, and drive consistent business growth. The role demands a combination of sales acumen, customer service, coordination skills, and a deep understanding of financial products.

Key Responsibilities

1. Customer Interaction and Loan Requirement Analysis

  • Meet prospective loan applicants in person or over the phone to understand their financing needs.

  • Explain the available loan products (home loans, personal loans, business loans, etc.), interest rates, EMI options, and eligibility criteria.

  • Conduct a preliminary assessment of the applicant’s financial status, income, credit score, and repayment capacity.

2. Documentation and Application Support

  • Provide customers with detailed guidance on required documents for their chosen loan product.

  • Assist in collecting, verifying, and organizing the necessary paperwork such as ID proofs, income documents, property papers, business financials, etc.

  • Ensure that the loan application form is filled accurately and completely before submission.

  • Educate customers on banking procedures and respond to queries throughout the application process.

3. Coordination with Partner Banks

  • Submit completed loan applications and documents to designated personnel at partner bank branches.

  • Maintain daily follow-ups with bank relationship managers, credit officers, and operations teams to ensure timely loan processing.

  • Resolve bottlenecks or documentation issues by proactively coordinating between the customer and the bank.

4. Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with staff at multiple branches of partner banks.

  • Regularly visit bank branches to reinforce the partnership, track application status, and gather feedback.

  • Identify opportunities to grow loan disbursal volumes by enhancing trust and collaboration with banking teams.

5. Sales and Business Development

  • Educate customers about other loan options or financial products that may suit their needs.

  • Encourage referrals from existing customers, real estate agents, and other market sources.

  • Meet assigned targets for lead conversion, loan disbursal, and revenue generation.

6. Reporting and CRM Updates

  • Maintain accurate records of leads, customer meetings, documentation status, and application progress in CRM or Excel sheets.

  • Prepare regular reports on lead quality, conversion ratios, disbursal volumes, and partner bank performance.

  • Flag recurring issues to team leads or managers and suggest process improvements.

  • Convincing ability to promote loan products based on customer needs and eligibility.

  • Result-oriented approach to meet monthly disbursal or lead conversion targets.

4. Analytical Skills

  • Ability to analyze financial documents, assess basic creditworthiness, and understand key loan eligibility criteria.

5. Organizational and Coordination Skills

  • Multitasking capability to handle several applications simultaneously.

  • Attention to detail when verifying documents or filling out forms.

6. Knowledge of Financial Products

  • Understanding of various loan products (secured and unsecured), interest structures, repayment options, and processing norms.

  • Awareness of current market trends, RBI guidelines, and basic banking procedures.
