Job Description

Summary

The Data Management Analyst position requires a junior to mid-level data analyst with 1 to 2 years of experience in data management. Alternatively, experience in global commodity markets is acceptable. The Data Management Analyst is expected to work within the Coal, Metals and Mining team to perform data acquisition and management functions. The analyst will also work on additional analysis as needed, including potential contribution to research deliverables and consulting projects.

Job Responsibilities

Collect data from a wide variety of global sources, with very high accuracy and attention to detail. Primary responsibilities will be Global Coal and Metals markets;
Maintain data in optimal formats that are accessible by research analysts globally;
Identify key trends in the data, and bring these trends to the attention of researchers globally;
Create charts from data;
Populate other documents (such as country profiles, market reports) with charts and tables created from data;
Analysts will be encouraged to contribute to regular reports and original research, collaborating with the other global teams such as power, gas and renewables.

Required Education

Graduate degree in mathematics, engineering, economics, statistics or industry-related field required. Graduate degree with quantitative skills a plus.

Required Experience

At least 1 year of experience in a data-related field, or within industry, government, research or consulting.

Strong numerical and analytical skills
High level of attention to detail
Demonstrated experience in managing data and datasets
Data analysis experience a benefit
Effective verbal and written communication skills critical
A strong team player with skills to collaborate between various team members
Advanced proficiency with MS Office applications required (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
