Job Description

Name of the Project: Mainstreaming rice landraces diversity in varietal development through genome- wide association studies: A model for large-scale utilization of gene bank collections of rice.

Research Associate III (01) Bioinformatics

Pay Scale: Rs. 54,000 + 24% HRA

Essential qualification: Doctoral Degree in Biotechnology/ Plant breeding/ Molecular Biology/ Life Sciences / Bioinformatics or related subjects.

Desirable Qualification: At least two years of research experience in working with various bioinformatics pipelines in Linux environment, statistical analysis and analysis of high throughput SNP genotyping data, re-sequencing and transcriptomic data.

Upper age limit: 35 years

Research Associate III (01) Database, website and mobile app

Pay Scale:Rs. 54,000 + 24% HRA

Essential qualification: 1. Post-Graduation in Computer Science or Computer Application with 60% marks or equivalent. Each degree and diploma should be from a UGC recognized university.

2. At least two years of research experience in the area of database and application development with evidences in the form of research papers, databases, tools, etc.

Desirable: 3. Expertise of system administration, networking and security administration. 4. Experience in mobile app development in android and ios

In an unprecedented initiative, NBPGR, for the first time, has characterized and evaluated (preliminary) entire germplasm of wheat (22000 accessions comprising T. aestivum, T. durum and T. dicoccum) conserved in the National Genebank, at three locations in during Rabi 2011-12. At CCS HAU, Hisar, the wheat accessions have been characterized under optimum conditions. Data on 32 agro-morphological characters are used to develop a core-set.
