Job Description

Research Associate /JRF/Database Assistant job recruitment in Sikkim University on Contractual basis

Title of the project: “Key ecosystem services and biodiversity components in socio-ecological landscapes of Darjeeling - Sikkim Himalaya: Deriving management & policy inputs and developing mountain biodiversity information system” Research project [NMHS-2017/MG-01/477].

*Research Associate/ 02 (Sikkim University (01) and ATREE, Gangtok (01)

Qualification: Ph.D. in Life Sciences/ Environmental Science/ Environmental management or allied disciplines Experience of working on biodiversity in mountain environment, working knowledge of GIS, ecological modelling, R, etc.

Pay Scale : Rs.40,000

Junior Research Fellow/ 05 Sikkim University (03) and ATREE, Gangtok (02)

Qualification: First class Masters Degree in Zoology/ Life Sciences/ Environmental Science/ Environmental management or allied disciplines with NET.

Experience of working on biodiversity in mountain environment, working knowledge on GIS, ecological modelling, etc. Non-NET candidates can apply and will be considered as Junior Project Fellow (JPF). Fellowship for JPF will be as per the norms of Ministry of Environment and Forests, Govt. of India

Pay Scale :Rs.25,000/- + HRA 8% per month for first two years and RS.28,000/- + HRA 8% for third year subject to performance)

Communications and Database Assistant/ 02 Both positions tenable at ATREE, Gangtok

Qualification: B.Tech/MCA/M.Sc in Computer Science/ Engineering/ Information Technology Minimum of six months post qualification experience on web development and database management

Pay Scale : Rs.25,000/- per month (consolidated)]

Field Assistant/ 07 Sikkim University (04)and ATREE, Gangtok (03)

Qualification: Intermediate (10+2) preferably in science. Educational qualifications may be relaxed for candidates with prior experience in assisting in the field studies and knowledge on biodiversity of the region Field based positions in the project sites in Darjeeling and Sikkim. Candidates with basic knowledge on biodiversity and familiarity with landscape will be given preference.

Pay Scale : Rs.10,000/- per month (consolidated)
