Job Description

Applications are invited from the eligible candidates for the position of Research Associate, JRF and Lab cum Field Attendant in the research project titled “DST’s CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE ON WATER RESOURCES, CRYOSPHERE AND CLIMATE CHANGE STUDIES” in Department of Geology, Sikkim University.

1. Research Associate (RA) /Number of Post: 3.

Pay Scale: Rs 47000 +8% HRA

Essential qualifications: Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Environmental Sciences/Glaciology/Geology/ Geophysics/ Climate Change Studies/Water Resources/Atmospheric Sciences/Remote Sensing and GIS/Geo-informatics/Sciences/any other relevant discipline or having three years of research, teaching, and design and development experience after ME/MTech with at least one research paper in Science Citation Indexed (SCI) journal.

Desirable qualification: Expert in climate change modelling studies, Glacial studies, mathematical modelling, Chemical analysis, Remote Sensing and GIS software’s and data interpretation. Excellent report writing skills etc.

2. Junior Research Fellow (JRF)/ Number of Post: 6

Pay Scale: Rs. 31000 +8% HRA

Essential qualifications: Post Graduate Degree in Environmental Sciences/ Glaciology/ Geology/ Geophysics/ Climate Change Studies/Water Resources/Atmospheric Sciences/Remote Sensing and GIS/Geo-informatics/Sciences/any other relevant disciplines with NET/GATE

Desirable qualification: Experience in climate change studies, Glacial studies, mathematical modelling, Chemical analysis, Remote Sensing and GIS software’s and data interpretation.
