Job Description

Applications are invited from suitable candidates for filling up the purely temporary positions of two Research Associate (RA-III), four Senior Research Fellow (SRF) and two Laboratory Assistant in the following projects of Dr. Swaup K. Parida, Scientist, NIPGR.

(A) DBT Multi-Institutional sub-project 2 entitled “Integrated genomic strategy for accelerating domestication of rice bean (Vigna umbellata)”, under Genetic Enhancement of Minor Pulse

Research Associate-III (two posts): Emoluments as per DST/DBT norms and as sanctioned in the project.

Essential Qualification: Candidates having Ph.D. degree in Life Sciences/Biotechnology/Molecular Biology or related field are eligible to apply. Candidates having M.Tech in Biotechnology/Bioinformatics with three years research experience and one research publication can also apply as mentioned in DST office memorandum number SR/S9/Z-08/2018 dated January 30, 2019. 

Candidates having research experience in the area of molecular biology, functional genomics, genomics-assisted breeding duly supported with relevant publications will be preferred.

Senior Research Fellow (three posts): Emoluments as per DST/DBT norms and as sanctioned in the project.

Essential Qualification: Candidates selected through National Eligibility Tests as mentioned in the DST Office Memorandum number SR/S9/Z-08/2018 dated January 30, 2019 and having M.Sc./M.Tech degree (with minimum 60% marks) in Life Sciences/ Agriculture/Biotechnology/Molecular Biology or equivalent with 2 years of post- M.Sc./M.Tech  experience are eligible to apply. Candidate with prior work experience in plant breeding, genomics, molecular biology, and or field phenotyping will be preferred. 

Laboratory Assistant (two posts): Consolidated Emoluments of .15000/- per month as sanctioned in the project.

Essential Qualification: Candidates having Graduate Degree in any discipline are eligible to apply. The candidate having work experience in field related jobs and field phenotyping is desirable.

(B) DBT Flagship Project entitled 'Imparting sheath blight disease tolerance in rice',

Senior Research Fellow (one post): Emoluments as per DST/DBT norms and as sanctioned in the project.

Essential Qualification: Candidates selected through National Eligibility Tests as mentioned in the DST Office Memorandum number SR/S9/Z-08/2018 dated January 30, 2019. Candidates having M.Sc./M.Tech degree (with minimum 60% marks) in Life Sciences/ Agriculture/ Biotechnology/ Molecular Biology/Bioinformatics or equivalent and minimum of two years of post M.Sc./M.Tech research experience are eligible for interview. Candidate with prior work experience in bioinformatics and next-generation sequence analysis related to genomics-assisted breeding are desirable.

The above positions are completely on temporary basis and co-terminus with the project. The fellowship amount for the above positions are as sanctioned in the project and as per DBT/DST norms. The initial appointment will be for one year or till the tenability of the project whichever is earlier and the same can be curtailed/extended on the basis of assessment of the candidate's performance and discretion of the Competent Authority.

NIPGR reserves the right to select the candidate against the above post depending upon the qualification and experience of the candidate. Reservation of posts shall be as per Govt
. of India norms. 

The appointment may be terminated any time by giving one-month notice by either side. The applicants will have no claim implicit or explicit for consideration against any regular position of NIPGR.
