Research Scientist recruitment in National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC-ISRO)


National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) is one of the constituent Centres of Indian Space Research Organisation(ISRO), Department of Space(DOS) responsible for the Ground Segment of Remote Sensing Programme through Satellite Data Acquisition, Archival, Processing, Dissemination, Remote Sensing Applications. Training and Capacity Building. It has five Regional Centres located at Bengaluru, Nagpur. Kolkata, Jodhpur and New Delhi to address region/area specific Remote Sensing application needs.

 

Research Scientist 1

Qualification : M.E/M.Tech or equivalent in Water Resources/ Hydrology / Soil & Water Conservation/Hydraulics / Irrigation/ Environmental/ equivalent to Water Resources Engineering specialization After completion of B.E/ B.Tech or equivalent in Civil / Environmental / Agricultural / Water Resources Engineering. Desirable : Knowledge in Remote Sensing / GIS/ Geoinformatics

Qualification : M.E/M.Tech or equivalent in Remote Sensing/ GIS / GeoInformatics / Geomatics After completion of B.E/ B.Tech or equivalent in Civil / Environmental / Agricultural Engineering or MSc. (with Physical Sciences subjects like Maths, Physics etc. at B.Sc level) in Geomatics / Geoinformatics / Remote Sensing / equivalent to Geoinformatics specialization. Desirable : Knowledge in Water Resources / Hydrology / Hydrological Modeling / Statistical Analysis

Qualification : M.E / M.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering / Information Technology / Software Engineering / equivalent. Desirable : Web technologies using JavaScript, HTML, Object Oriented languages, PHP, Client-Server & web architectures or RDBMS, UML,XML, Web Designing, Open Source GIS tools or Database design, Database administration, Enterprise databases, Spatial databases or Image processing of Satellite data using Object Oriented languages, image processing software development, open source image processing libraries

Place of Posting : The selected candidates are likely to be posted at NRSC - Earth Station, Shadnagar campus, Mahabubnagar District, Telangana State or at NRSC, Hyderabad. However, NRSC reserves the right to post the candidates anywhere in India as and when required.


Selection Process: The Qualification prescribed is the minimum requirement and possession of the same does not automatically make the candidate eligible to be called for interview. There will be an initial screening based on the academic performance and other parameters given in the online application and only those who are screened-in will be called for interview. Selection will be made based on performance in the interview.


Period : Selected candidates shall be engaged initially for a period of two years, extendable upto the validity of the project. In any case, the maximum period of engagement shall not exceed five years. The candidates appointed as Temporary Research Scientists shall not have any claim or right for regular appointment against any posts in NRSC/ ISRO /Department of Space.

About NRSC-ISRO

National Remote Sensing Agency (NRSA) was established as a registered society on 2nd September 1974 by Department of Science & Technology, based on a Union Cabinet approval dated December 13, 1973. The objective of organisation being undertaking and facilitating remote sensing activities in the country. Since the initial emphasis was on aerial surveys, NRSA took over the works and functions of Research Flight Facility of the Ministry of Defence. The NRSA Society's governing body was chaired by none other than the then Prime Minister of India, Mrs. Indira Gandhi. NRSA started functioning from hired premises in Secunderabad, Andhra Pradesh from mid April 1975.
