Project: North Eastern Region Node for Disaster Risk Reduction (NER-DRR)


01. Research Scientist Meteorology /01Post

Qualification: M.Sc in Physics/Meteorology/ Atmospheric Science/Earth Systems Science or in any other subject that is equivalent of these subjects OR M.Tech in Physics/ Meteorology/ Atmospheric Science/Earth Systems Science or in any other subject that is equivalent of these subjects.


Desired Credentials : Experience in Satellite Meteorology, Thunderstorm, Lightning, NWP with programming knowledge in MATLAB, FORTRAN and conversant with LINUX operating system.

02. Research Scientist Geology/ 01 Post

Qualification:M.Sc in Geology/Applied Geology with pre-qualification of B.Sc with geology as Main/ Major/Honors Subjects. OR M.Tech in Geology/Applied Geology with pre-qualification of B.Sc with geology as Main/ Major/Honors Subjects.

Desired Credentials :1. Experience in Remote Sensing/Microwave/Hyper- spectral Remote Sensing, satellite data/image interpretation and analysis 2. Experience in Landslide-hazards related works 3. Working knowledge in Modeling and Data Analysis 4. Digital Image Processing 5. Field experience

03. Research Scientist  Information Technology /01 Post

Qualification: M.E/M.Tech in Computer Science/IT/Geoinformatics or equivalent with B.E/B.Tech in CSE/IT/ECE

Desired Credentials : One year experience in implementing machine learning/ deep learning, loT/Mobile Apps based applications.


Working knowledge in Python, C++/Java, Geoserver, Mapserver, UML, XML or open layers, Jquery and free/ open source software

04. Research Scientist RS&GIS /01Post

Qualification: M.Tech in RS&GIS/Geoinformatics/Computer Science/ IT or equivalent.

Desired Credentials : Working experience in hyper- spectral remote sensing, Microwave remote sensing/LIDAR data analyst etc. in the field of natural resource management.

05.  Project: Doppler Weather Radar (DWR), Cherrapunjee

Electronics & Electrical Engineering /01 Post

Qualification: M.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engg/ Mechanical Engg/Electrical & Electronics Engg or in any other subject that is equivalent of these subjects .

Desired Credentials: Experience in radar systems, digital signal processing, programming knowledge in MATLAB, FORTRAN and conversant with LINUX operating system

Eligibility: Note: 1 ME/M.Tech or equivalent post graduate degree in 1st class with an aggregate minimum of 60% or CGPA/CPI grading of 6.84 on a 10 scale or equivalent.

2. M.Sc degree should be in first class with an aggregate minimum of 65% (average of all semesters) or CGPA/CPI grading of 6.84 on a 10 scale or equivalent.

3. Rounding-off marks/CGPA Grading is not allowed

4. All degrees should be duly recognized by AICTE/UGC, or any other organization authorized by Government of India to do so.


Age Limit:35 years as on 25.11.2018 (40 years in case of SC/ST candidates and 38 years for OBC candidates). Ex-serviceman and Persons with Disabilities are eligible for age relaxation as per Government of India orders. Candidates claiming age relaxation have to submit valid documentary proof.

Pay & Allowances: Selected candidates will be offered the fellowship as Research Scientist in the Pay Band of Rs.15600-39100 with Grade Pay ` 5400/-. The gross emoluments in the minimum of Pay Band will at present be approximately Rs. 52080/-. In addition HRA and medical benefits for
self only will be allowed as per rules.

Selection Process: The qualification prescribed is the minimum requirement and possession of the same does not automatically make the candidates eligible to be called for interview.

A duly constituted Screening Committee shall screen the applications received for the posts based on the following:  80% weightage on marks obtained in the qualifying degree (Essential Qualification). 20% weightage on experience on the relevant field [full marks for relevant experience for 4 years or more, and proportionately for any period (only completed months) below four years].
