Job Description

  • Menu Planning: Working with chefs to plan and optimize the menu, considering food costs, profits, and customer preferences.
  • Marketing and Promotion: Developing and implementing marketing strategies to attract and retain customers.  
  • Vendor Management: Managing relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure quality and timely delivery of supplies. 

Key Responsibilities:

1. Staff Management & Development

  • Supervise and train staff: Oversee restaurant staff, including servers, kitchen staff, bartenders, and other team members. Provide training on customer service standards, food handling, and restaurant procedures.

  • Scheduling: Create and manage work schedules, ensuring adequate coverage during peak hours while minimizing overtime.

  • Team motivation: Foster a positive work environment by motivating, leading, and guiding the team to provide excellent service.

  • Conflict resolution: Address and resolve any staff issues or conflicts in a timely and professional manner.

  • Performance reviews: Conduct regular staff evaluations and provide feedback to improve performance.

2. Customer Service Excellence

  • Ensure a high-quality dining experience: Monitor customer satisfaction by engaging with guests, addressing concerns, and ensuring prompt and professional service at all times.

  • Handle customer complaints: Address customer complaints or concerns with professionalism and tact, working to resolve issues and maintain customer satisfaction.

  • Uphold service standards: Maintain a high standard of service in all areas, including food quality, cleanliness, and overall guest experience.

3. Operations & Daily Management

  • Oversee daily operations: Ensure the restaurant runs smoothly by managing opening and closing duties, staff shifts, and daily restaurant tasks.

  • Ensure cleanliness and safety: Ensure that the restaurant meets health, safety, and sanitation standards as per local laws and regulations. Conduct regular inspections to ensure the restaurant is clean and well-maintained.

  • Inventory control: Manage inventory, ensuring that food and beverage stock is adequately maintained. Order supplies, manage stock levels, and track usage to minimize waste.

  • Quality control: Oversee food preparation, portion control, and presentation to ensure consistent food quality according to the restaurant's standards.

4. Financial Management

  • Budgeting and cost control: Develop and manage the restaurant’s budget, track expenses, and implement cost-saving initiatives. Ensure profitability by monitoring labor costs, food costs, and other operational expenses.

  • Cash handling and financial reporting: Oversee cash management, reconcile daily sales reports, and ensure accurate financial reporting.

  • Sales and revenue growth: Identify opportunities for increasing sales, whether through upselling, promotions, or improving customer service to increase repeat business.

5. Marketing & Promotion

  • Promote the restaurant: Work with the marketing team to create promotional campaigns, special events, or loyalty programs that attract new customers and retain regular guests.

  • Community engagement: Build relationships with local businesses, community organizations, and media outlets to boost the restaurant's visibility and reputation.

6. Compliance & Regulation

  • Ensure legal compliance: Stay up to date with local, state, and federal regulations regarding food safety, alcohol service, labor laws, and health codes. Ensure the restaurant complies with all relevant regulations.

  • Licensing: Manage permits and licenses for food, alcohol, and health compliance, ensuring they are up to date and renewed as required.
