Retail Associate
Job Description
Greet and assist customers with product inquiries and purchases
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the store
Manage stock displays and refill bins/trays as needed
Handle billing and cash register operations
Report stock levels, damages, and expiry items
Follow store SOPs related to hygiene, grooming, and uniform
Communicate offers, combos, and gift boxes to customers
Participate in daily opening and closing tasks
Provide excellent customer service and resolve basic complaints
Key Responsibilities:
1. Customer Engagement & Service:

Greet customers as they enter the store and ensure they feel welcomed and valued.

Offer product information, answer customer questions, and provide recommendations based on customer preferences and needs.

Actively assist customers in finding the products they are looking for, ensuring they have a positive shopping experience.

Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and returns in a courteous and efficient manner, ensuring customer satisfaction.

Engage in friendly conversations to build rapport with customers and enhance their shopping experience.
2. Sales & Upselling:
-
Promote and upsell products through knowledge of features, benefits, and promotions.

Meet or exceed daily, weekly, and monthly sales targets as set by store management.

Encourage customers to purchase additional products that complement their initial selections, increasing sales opportunities.

Maintain a strong understanding of current sales, discounts, and promotions to effectively communicate these to customers.
3. Stocking & Merchandising:
-
Ensure shelves are stocked, well-organized, and visually appealing by adhering to store merchandising guidelines.

Assist with setting up product displays, ensuring that new arrivals, sales items, and promotions are clearly visible to customers.

Replenish stock as needed, ensuring that products are rotated to maintain freshness (if applicable), and that high-demand items are always available on the floor.

Ensure all products are properly labeled with correct pricing and promotional signage.
4. Inventory Management:
-
Assist in receiving and organizing inventory shipments, ensuring items are checked against delivery lists for accuracy.

Help maintain the store’s stock levels by performing regular stock counts and reporting discrepancies.

Inform store management when stock is low or out of stock, providing suggestions for reordering or restocking.

Help with organizing back stock and ensuring that excess inventory is stored in a neat and accessible manner.
5. Point of Sale (POS) and Cash Handling:

Operate the POS system to accurately process customer transactions, including sales, returns, exchanges, and gift cards.

Handle cash, credit, and debit card transactions with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Ensure that the cash register is properly balanced at the beginning and end of shifts.

Assist with gift card, loyalty program, and other promotions at checkout to encourage repeat business.
6. Store Maintenance:

Keep the store clean and organized by regularly tidying the sales floor, displays, and checkout areas.

Ensure that fitting rooms are maintained in a tidy and orderly manner, assisting customers in checking out items as they finish.

Participate in daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules, such as sweeping, dusting, and sanitizing surfaces and areas.

Help with the preparation of the store for opening and closing, ensuring that all systems are functioning and store standards are met.
7. Compliance & Security:

Follow all store policies and procedures related to health and safety, customer service, and security.

Remain vigilant to prevent shoplifting or fraudulent activity, ensuring store security procedures are followed.

Report any suspicious behavior or incidents to management promptly.
8. Teamwork & Communication:

Collaborate with other team members to ensure that all customers receive excellent service and that tasks are completed efficiently.

Participate in team meetings and training sessions to improve product knowledge and sales skills.

Communicate effectively with store management and fellow associates regarding inventory issues, sales updates, and customer feedback.
