Job Description
- To take their daily rounds in the wards and make a note of all their findings in the progress notes of the patient.
- To record and document the vital parameters of the patients, on proper interval of time during the duty hours.
- To take the complete history and examine the patient(s) on admission and fill the case history in the medical declaration form.
- To inform the respective consultants soon after the patient is admitted and after completing the medical history paper.
- To carry out the orders given by the consultant verbally and document it in the Indoor paper.
- To start the treatment as advised by the Consultant Incharge.
- To send the proper investigations as advised by the Consultant Incharge and trace all the reports and inform and take proper necessary treatment changes after discussing with the consultant.
- To ensure that the appropriate medication is given by the nursing staff as per the instructions of the Consultant.
- To assist the Consultant/ Senior RMO in the procedures/Surgery conducted bed side or inside the Operation Theatre.
- A professional approach must be adopted with all patients, staff and visitors.
- RMOs must work within their level of experience and competence and highlight verbally and in writing to the nurse in charge.
- To clerk in and assess urgent admissions as required when the relevant consultant is not immediately available.
- To attend daily rounds with the Consultant Incharge and make necessary changes in the progress notes and Treatment course as directed by the Consultant.
- To enable and establish consultant communication.
- To communicate any medical problems or concerns to Consultants.
- To liaise with nursing staff regularly (at least every 3-4 hours) to check on patient progress, or more frequently if their condition necessitates. To see patients at the request of nurses in charge and carry out examinations of patients.
- To respond to calls from the ward relating to patient care.
- To assist in the day to day functions at the hospital and any other reasonable tasks, within their level of experience, requested by the hospital.
- To administer intravenous medications / therapy if required.
- To remain on the hospital premises while on duty, special instructions for CMO’s, that they must not leave the patient in the casualty, until the patient takes an exit from the casualty.
- To take and give proper over to their counterpart, and should not leave the department untill their counterpart arrives.
- Attend emergency calls from the department where you have been appointed and in case of emergency in other departments as well.
