Job Description

Job Overview

We are seeking a technically proficient and commercially driven Sales Engineer - F and B Process to join our team. This position is responsible for identifying, developing, and closing sales opportunities related to process equipment and solutions in the Food & Beverage industry, such as dairy, beverage, brewery, bakery, and packaged food production plants.

The Sales Engineer will act as the bridge between technical teams and customers, combining engineering knowledge with sales skills to provide tailored process solutions that meet client requirements. The role requires field visits, technical consultations, equipment demonstrations, and long-term relationship building with clients, consultants, OEMs, and end users.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Sales & Solutioning

  • Understand customer needs in various F&B processing domains including pasteurization, CIP (Clean-in-Place), filling, fermentation, heat exchangers, homogenization, and mixing systems.

  • Provide appropriate technical solutions based on product specifications, application suitability, and process requirements.

  • Prepare and present technical sales proposals, equipment specifications, and cost estimates.

2. Business Development

  • Identify new business opportunities through market research, site visits, referrals, and cold calling.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with OEMs, integrators, consultants, plant engineers, and procurement teams in the food & beverage industry.

  • Map key decision-makers and stakeholders for long-term engagement.

3. Sales Target Achievement

  • Meet or exceed assigned sales targets (monthly/quarterly/yearly) for products and solutions in the F&B process segment.

  • Plan and execute territory-wise sales strategies and key account penetration.

  • Monitor competition and suggest changes to sales approach based on market dynamics.

4. Product Knowledge & Demonstration

  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in process equipment, automation, and hygiene standards applicable to the F&B industry.

  • Conduct product demonstrations, customer training sessions, or technical workshops on equipment.

  • Collaborate with product and application engineering teams to customize offerings as per project needs.

5. Tendering & Proposal Management

  • Participate in RFQs, RFPs, and tender processes, ensuring timely and accurate submission of proposals.

  • Ensure commercial and technical compliance to customer specifications.

  • Negotiate prices, delivery timelines, payment terms, and contractual clauses in line with company policies.

6. Project Coordination

  • Work closely with the project execution and service teams to ensure smooth order delivery, installation, and commissioning.

  • Act as the single point of contact for clients throughout the sales cycle and after-sales support.

  • Follow up on payment collection and project closure documents.

7. Reporting & CRM Management

  • Maintain updated records of prospects, sales pipeline, site visits, and ongoing projects in CRM or sales tracking software.

  • Submit weekly and monthly sales reports, forecasts, and market feedback to the management.

  • Contribute to sales review meetings with actionable insights and client updates.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Food Technology, or a related technical field

  • Diploma in Engineering with relevant experience may also be considered

  • Additional certifications in sales or process equipment handling (preferred)

Experience

  • 2–5 years of technical sales experience in the food & beverage process industry

  • Experience in selling or handling equipment like valves, pumps, CIP systems, heat exchangers, tanks, mixers, or process skids

  • Strong knowledge of hygiene standards, food safety, and production line equipment

Technical Skills

  • Understanding of fluid dynamics, thermal systems, and process automation

  • Ability to read and interpret P&ID diagrams, equipment layouts, and process flow diagrams

  • Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD (basic), and CRM software (Salesforce, Zoho, etc.)

Soft Skills

  • Strong communication and presentation skills

  • Good negotiation and commercial acumen

  • Self-motivated and target-driven with excellent time management

  • Problem-solving attitude with customer-first approach

  • Ability to travel within assigned territory (up to 50–70% field work)

  • Adaptable and able to work independently or with cross-functional teams
