Job Description

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and technically skilled Sales Engineer to join our team. The Sales Engineer will be responsible for selling technical products or services to potential customers, often within engineering, industrial, or high-tech sectors. This individual will bridge the gap between the technical capabilities of our products and the client’s needs, ensuring product specifications meet the customer’s requirements while delivering excellent customer service and sales results.

The ideal candidate should possess strong technical knowledge of the products, excellent communication and sales skills, and the ability to understand complex customer needs and provide tailored solutions. This role requires regular client interaction, both in-person and over the phone, and the ability to generate and close leads, manage key accounts, and promote product offerings.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Product Knowledge and Technical Expertise:

  • Possess a deep understanding of the technical aspects of the products or services sold, including specifications, features, and benefits.

  • Provide technical support and advice to clients regarding product functionality, installation, and troubleshooting.

  • Collaborate with the engineering and technical teams to ensure customer requirements are met and the correct solutions are offered.

2. Sales and Lead Generation:

  • Identify and generate new business opportunities by contacting potential clients, attending trade shows, and networking within the industry.

  • Qualify leads and identify key decision-makers within customer organizations.

  • Demonstrate the product through presentations, technical demonstrations, and trials to customers and prospects.

  • Prepare and deliver technical proposals and quotations tailored to the client’s needs.

  • Negotiate terms, pricing, and other commercial aspects to close deals and secure contracts.

3. Account Management and Relationship Building:

  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with key clients, ensuring their ongoing satisfaction and repeat business.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, addressing any concerns or requests and coordinating with the relevant internal teams to resolve issues.

  • Follow up on sales inquiries, orders, and delivery schedules to ensure customer satisfaction and resolve any issues promptly.

4. Market Research and Competitor Analysis:

  • Conduct research to stay informed about market trends, competitor activities, and technological advancements.

  • Provide feedback to the product development and marketing teams on customer needs, competitor products, and market conditions.

  • Continuously monitor and analyze customer needs, adjusting sales strategies to reflect changes in the industry.

5. Sales Reporting and Performance Metrics:

  • Track and report on sales performance, including sales targets, client activity, and market conditions.

  • Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, sales opportunities, and negotiations in the CRM system.

  • Regularly meet sales targets and work towards achieving monthly, quarterly, and yearly sales goals.

6. Coordination with Internal Teams:

  • Work closely with the marketing and product teams to ensure alignment of sales strategies and customer solutions.

  • Coordinate with the logistics, engineering, and technical teams to ensure timely delivery of products and services as per customer specifications.

  • Provide training or workshops to customers or the internal team about the technical features of the product.
