Job Description
Job Summary:
We are looking for a Sales Engineer who is technically proficient, customer-focused, and highly dedicated to providing tailored solutions using test and measuring instruments. This role involves understanding customer requirements, offering appropriate product solutions, conducting product demonstrations, handling installations, and maintaining a strong sales pipeline through regular engagement with prospects and clients.
As a Sales Engineer, you will serve as a bridge between technical product knowledge and customer needs. You will be actively involved in the pre-sales, sales, and post-sales stages, ensuring the client receives the most suitable solution. The role requires someone who is proactive, organized, and willing to travel for client meetings, site visits, product demos, and technical installations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Solution Selling

Understand customer requirements, applications, and pain points related to test and measurement.

Offer customized technical solutions using the company’s range of test and measuring instruments.

Prepare proposals and quotations tailored to the specific needs of each client.

Maintain in-depth knowledge of all product specifications, applications, and benefits.
2. Product Demonstrations & Installations

Conduct on-site or virtual product demonstrations to showcase the functionality and benefits of various instruments.

Perform product installation and configuration at client locations, ensuring everything is fully operational.

Train customer personnel on proper usage and maintenance of the equipment.

Act as the first point of contact during trials or pilot phases.
3. Technical Involvement

Collaborate closely with the engineering and product teams to stay updated on the latest instruments and features.

Assist clients in selecting the right instruments based on accuracy, range, specifications, and environment.

Provide technical consultation and troubleshooting before and after sales.

Keep updated with the latest trends and technologies in the field of electronic/electrical/mechanical testing.
4. Prospect Development and Lead Management

Maintain and update a weekly prospectus or prospect list — tracking leads, inquiries, and client follow-ups.

Qualify and prioritize leads based on urgency, technical fit, and potential value.

Build and maintain a technical database of leads and customers to support ongoing sales strategies.

Convert qualified leads into opportunities through timely follow-up and engagement.
5. Client Relationship Management

Build strong relationships with new and existing customers through regular communication.

Maintain regular follow-up with clients to ensure satisfaction and look for opportunities for cross-selling or upselling.

Address customer queries and resolve issues quickly and professionally.

Work closely with the customer’s engineering teams to integrate solutions as per application needs.
6. Market Intelligence and Reporting

Research industry trends and gather competitor intelligence to identify new business opportunities.

Prepare weekly and monthly reports on sales activity, lead status, product performance, and client feedback.

Share customer insights with the internal product and marketing teams to support product improvement.
7. Collaboration & Team Support

Coordinate with internal departments like logistics, service, and finance to ensure smooth execution of orders.

Support marketing efforts such as trade shows, exhibitions, webinars, or roadshows.

Collaborate with senior sales engineers and managers to achieve regional and national targets.
Technical Skills:

Familiarity with test and measuring equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power analyzers, signal generators, environmental testers, etc.

Understanding of calibration, installation, and integration of such instruments.

Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and datasheets.

Proficiency in using CRM tools, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
Soft Skills:

Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Strong customer service orientation and negotiation abilities.

Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.

Willingness to travel for client meetings, demonstrations, and installations.
