Job Description
Job Summary
We are hiring experienced and enthusiastic Salesmen to join our growing retail team in a reputed apparel and garment showroom. The ideal candidate should have at least 6 months of experience in garment sales, specifically in ladies wear, sarees, kids wear, and men’s wear. The role demands excellent customer service, product knowledge, and the ability to assist buyers in making confident and satisfying purchases.
As a Salesman, you will play a key role in boosting in-store sales, handling customers, maintaining the store’s display and stock, and ensuring a pleasant shopping experience for every visitor.
Key Responsibilities
1. Customer Assistance and Sales

Greet customers warmly as they enter the showroom.

Understand customer needs and guide them to the right section (ladies wear, sarees, kids wear, or men’s wear).

Show multiple options based on the customer’s budget, style, occasion, and fabric preferences.

Assist in trials, explain fit, design, and garment features to help customers make buying decisions.

Upsell and cross-sell where appropriate (e.g., accessories, matching items, complementary products).
2. Product Knowledge and Presentation

Maintain updated knowledge of all product categories: fabrics, sizes, brands, offers, and new arrivals.

Keep the display racks neat, organized, and properly tagged.

Arrange sarees, suits, kids’ outfits, and men’s wear based on color themes, type, and ongoing offers.

Provide accurate information on prices, material types (cotton, silk, chiffon, etc.), washing instructions, and availability.
3. Billing and Coordination

Escort customers to the billing counter and ensure smooth transaction completion.

Assist in handling payment issues, discounts, or exchange policies when required.

Coordinate with the store manager or billing department for customer queries beyond scope.
4. Stock Management

Keep track of sold inventory and inform supervisors about low-stock items.

Participate in stock verification and help with restocking, labeling, and tagging items.

Handle stock shifting between departments when required.
5. Customer Experience & After-Sales Support

Handle customer complaints or sizing issues with patience and professionalism.

Explain exchange or return policies clearly before and after purchase.

Create a lasting impression through polite behavior and helpful service.
Required Experience & Qualifications
Experience:
-
Minimum 6 months of experience in retail apparel sales (compulsory)

Experience in any of the following categories is preferred:
-
Ladies wear (salwars, kurtis, gowns, tops, etc.)

Sarees (silk, cotton, designer, party wear, etc.)
-
Kids wear (infant, boys/girls up to age 14)

Men’s wear (shirts, trousers, ethnic, casual, and formal wear)

Education:

Minimum 10th pass / SSLC

12th pass or diploma preferred but not mandatory if experience is strong
Language Skills:

Must be able to communicate in local language

Basic spoken English preferred
